Kamikaze Tops Group

Golden Star FC vs Kamikaze (FA Cup)

12 Feb 2012

Canberra Secondary @ 5pm

Kamikaze entered this match knowing that they could relax as a solitary point will ensure that they finish the group as top. But no one in the team, was prepared to settle for anything less than a point against their tough opponents. Golden Star, a Myanmarese team, stayed through to form as they put in many enthusiastic and sometimes over the top tackles. With the referee not staying firm, KKZ knew the only way to fight fire was with fire. Led by their inspirational captain USPO and midfield stalwart Hari, the team fought for every single ball and stayed toe-to-toe with their opponents. Despite creating a host of chances, they were unable to convert due to good keeping and some bad offside decisions. Nevertheless, the team kept trying and even during the odd times where Golden Star launched an attack, the KKZ defence spearheaded by Prem and Nesh stayed firm to repel the attacks. In the end, as the match was headed to a draw, veteran forward Victor King latched onto a long ball from Prem and sidefooted it into the net to give KKZ a deserved 1-0 win and top spot in the group. The team will now face familiar foes S.S in the round of 16. With a score to settle there, KKZ will be definitely keeping their heads cool and minds set on the quarter-final place.
