Kamikaze win 3 in a row

MOF SEASON 6 DIVISION 2
ROUND 3
Outlander Smurfs FC vs KAMIKAZE FC
28th Sep 2014
1pm Bedok View Secondary

Kamikaze gained the 3rd win of their campaign to extend their good run of form with a hard fought victory. While the final scoreline seems rather comfortable, it belied the nature of the game with full credits due to a hard-fighting Outlander Smurfs FC.

Kamikaze found themselves a goal down 3 times in the first-half but the age-old tenacity seems to have returned to this new-look squad as they equalised every single-time to go into the half-time break level on scores. The huge let-off spread a positive mindset within the team as they were determined to make the best of their good fortune. Hevy and Safar showed signs of once again reigniting their dangerous partnership as they ripped apart the Outlander Smurfs backline which had stood firm till then in a blitz of 20 minutes.

It was a total team effort as the backline of Prem and Jeffrey combined well with their keeper Vishnu, setting the tone for a future defensive rock. They were well-supported by the likes of Pira and the midfield trio of Viki, Doctor and Riswan. Captain Hara, who had a forgettable first-half recovered to put in another sterling midfield performance in the second-half to cement credentials. Even Young Boy, Vishnu had a goal to cap an effective cameo performance. However, the star performer of the day was definitely young starlet Sasi, who kept asking questions of the Outlander Smurfs' defence and kept them on their backfoot with dazzling runs in a tireless performance.

Manager of the Day Victor kept the result in perspective. "It is our 3rd consecutive win, but it is not a 3rd convincing win. We made quite a few mistakes. But i'd take this win as a testament of our never-say-die spirit. We have to improve if we want to take on the big boys. Right now, a number of our players are still suffering the scars of last season's traumatising results. But I'm confident the boys will rise up to this new challenge. We will redeem ourselves and target a podium-finish."

Kamikaze Continue Gaining Momentum

MOF SEASON 6 DIVISION 2
ROUND 2
KAMIKAZE FC vs FC Alwak
21st Sep 2014
11 am Sembawang Secondary

Kamikaze continued on their good form as they racked up an impressive result against FC Alwak. After the trials of last season, the team is still short on confidence and the managers have said that it will take at least 4 wins for the team to gain back its momentum and swagger. This result will go a long way in ensuring that the return of the swagger was sped up as they wrapped a comprehensive win against a seasoned MOF campaigner.

The first half, despite all of KKZ's efforts saw them only register 1 goal courtesy of young starlet Sasi, and there was some trepidation in the ranks of the team given their defensive frailties. However, the manager Seelan's instructions was simple. Go out and show me you can get the goals. The instruction was general, but Safar took it rather personal, as he produced a masterclass performance yet again and ended up 5-goal hero and made sure that this time the man-of-the match award belonged to him solely. He was not alone in scoring goals however, as Hevy, and Pira got in the act too.

While the final result was indeed convincing, the gaffer decided to play it cool and laid down the gauntlet for his charges. "We had said before the season, that we would need 4 wins on the trot to get into gear, and we have now gotten 2. We have to get 2 more vital wins before we are ready to take on the big guns of this division. This should be an exciting season."

Kamikaze Start New Season on the right Note

MOF SEASON 6 DIVISION 2
ROUND 1
Philippines FC Sg vs KAMIKAZE FC
14th Sep 2014
1 Pm Punggol Secondary

Kamikaze embarked on a new season with a new-look squad in a show of intent by the management that they have begun the process of rebuilding, The policy of bringing in star names has now been put under indefinite review and the team is once again looking to promote youth and committed players who are willing to work hard for the team. With several of the experienced boys still in the squad to guide the new players, the team began with a verve and determination that was missing for large quarters of the previous season.

Yet, the finishing woes continued and the longer the team took to get onto the scoresheet meant that their defence was to continue bombarding against the sporadic attacks by a very physical PFC side. With the KKZ attack clueless on how to string together a decent run of passes in the final third, the defence finally gave way as PFC scored against the run of play to give them the lead at half-time.

The teamtalk at the break, only centred around 2 things. Play For your teammates and exercise more composure in the final third. As simple as it was, it worked a treat as the second half saw the Kamikaze of the old return and return with full venom. The entire team looked rejuvenated with the forwards of Nelson, Safar, Hevy and Ashiq running riot, Doctor, Riswan, Prem and Yeli holding the centre and Kishen, Mohan, Sasi and Pira providing excellent width. It was goals galore and for once after a long time, Kamikaze looked happy to be on the park. Youth players Jo, Vinnie and the keeper Pratip impressed as well, but the team voted for new-signing Riswan as the man-of-the-match for his excellent industrious work under the radar of more illustrious teammates.

While the season is only 1 game old, with much more tougher and ruthless opponents to come, Kamikaze looks to be a team on the up and there is renewed vigour in the squad that this could be a special season.
