Seniors Bounce Back from Their Defeat in Ruthless Manner

X-League Sunday Prime League Season 1 Division 2

Team Kamikaze vs Budget FC @ Turf City

Kamikaze bounced back from their defeat to La Forza the previous week in a ruthless and efficient manner as they scored 9 goals to repeat their 9-0 victory over their same opponents. Without a first-choice keeper, the run-up to the match looked a little shaky with Victor starting in goal, but the Seniors made light work of the job ahead of them.

The loss to La Forza means that the title race will most likely go down to goal difference, and the Seniors looked to bulk up their goals' tally as they went 4-0 ahead in the first half. The scoring was started by Aravin Yeli, through a sleek passing move. Dinzo then scored the second through a stunning curler after excellent work through Barathi. Shivanan got in on the act as he scored his first ever goal for the seniors on his debut league match. Not wanting to be left out, Hevy got in on the act by blasting the ball to the roof of the net to give KKZ a commanding lead at the break.

Whilst lesser teams might have taken their foot off the pedal in the second half, KKZ only had one aim and that was to score. Yeli got his second as did Hevy. Victor who came on to play forward soon had a chance to put his name on the scoresheet courtesy of a penalty won by Gerard, and he made no mistake from the spot to break his mini goal-scoring drought. Victor then doubled his tally through a tap-in after excellent work by Yeli. The icing on the cake was provided by Hevy who wrapped up his hat-trick in style and made sure that the Seniors had a commanding 10 goal lead in the goal difference tally against their opponents.

Team Manager Seelan, who was in high spirits understandably quipped, "I'm gonna have to work on the boys to learn to take their chances. 9-0 again? We should have gotten double-digits. But in all honesty, credit to our opponents. They never gave up and were fantastic sports. Teams like them are good for the sport, but today my boys were single-minded on their aim. And when this team gets into that kind of a zone, they are almost unplayable as they showed today."
