Kamikaze has completed the signings of the four targets they were pursuing. That brings the total number of new acquisitions to 5, including Mohaan, whom they had earlier signed on a 2-season deal. This is the biggest number of single season signings, since the founding of the club in 2004.
Kamikaze had signed, Reshi, Kishen, Sasi and Vijay from D-boys on a 2-season loan deal, that will see the boys play for D-boys on Saturdays and Kamikaze Seniors on Sundays. All 4 players are below 24, that has significantly reduced the average age of the squad and bodes well for the continuous renewal of the team. The 4 players had been actively courted by Manager Jayaseelan, who credited Aravin Yeli for the signings.
"We had close contact for some time already and I have to credit Yeli for making the signings seamless. These 4 young lads are amongst the most experienced in their age group and their experience will come in handy for the team. We also have several Juniors already promoted into the squad and this season will see a couple more from our Juniors step in. This is definitely a step in the right direction for the club," said Seelan
Profile of the 4 signings -
Kishen -
An industrious right-back, he looks to put in a strong challenge for the first choice right-back spot. A tenacious fullback in the mould of Ashley Cole, his speed and determination will make him a good replacement for Anand Spaceship who is still on Overseas Leave.
Sasi -
A former player of Kamikaze at the tender age of 14, Sasi was subsequently released to earn more experience within players of his age group. He has now returned, with vast knowledge and experience of the game and is a speedy winger as well as a clinical finisher. His roots with the team go a long way back as he is the cousin brother of former Captain Achu.
Vijay -
A very dependable keeper, Vijay can also play as centreback and centre midfield. Such versatility will be pleasant news for the gaffer as his rotating options will greatly increased. Vijay is admired for his excellent ball-handling skills as well as positional awareness. He will be a good deputy for current first-choice keeper Theva and will look to take his chances during Theva's absence.
Reshi -
His young age belies a wealth of experience. One of the most pivotal players of title-winning TG11, Reshi is a signing that has gotten the Kamikaze fans all excited. A nippy player, Reshi promises goals. He could be the missing piece in Kamikaze's attack that is looking to face new challenges.
Mohaan -
The marquee signing of the season. Mohaan needs no introduction. He comes with top level experience, including Espzen, Nfl and Prime League. This former SAFFC trainee has tremendously boosted the already famous Kamikaze midfield, that boasts Gerard, Doctor and Aravin Yeli. However, observers have pointed to Mohaan, giving this team a different dimension that could be very beneficial for the future development of the team.
As these signings are completed, the signs only point to one thing. There is a big announcement that is imminent with regards to Kamikaze's future plans. All eyes will be trained on Marsiling Sec this Sunday at 3pm, where Manager Seelan will hold his press conference after their friendly. It is believed that he will make a big announcement. Exciting times beckon for KKZ.
Viva La KAMIKAZE!!!!
