Kamikaze Off to a Flying Start...

Kamikaze started the final phase of its pre-season training by embarking on a 5-game plan, in which they play 5 games and aim to win at least 3 of them and draw one, racking up a goal difference of at least +5. The first of this matches was held today on the 3rd of Jul at Kranji Sec in a 3pm kickoff against a Northern-based Malay team.

They could have never asked for a better start as they won the match 3-2 in a convincing manner despite the unflattering scoreline. Hari, Akbar and Jayraj were standout performers in a match that the KKZ outfit are playing after a long holiday break.

Enduring a nervy start, Kamikaze broke the deadlock when Hari played a short corner to Mohawk whose inswinging cross was met with a pinpoint header by Victor. The score line was soon doubled when Hari played a defence splitting through ball which was met by Mohawk who coolly rounded the keeper before stroking the ball into an empty net.

The opponents came out strongly in the second half and outmuscled the KKZ midfield. Their efforts soon paid off, as they pulled back two quickfire goals to even the match. However, KKZ kept up the pressure with Safar and Hari running riot around the opponents' defence. Their efforts paid off, when Jayraj clinched the winner, when Safar played a short corner to Jayraj, who sidestepped a defender before drilling the ball into the net.

Despite having the burden of pressure on them, KKZ played with immense poise and composure, and this was noted with pleasure by the management. Having secured a good start, the team hopes to build on this and build up a good form to approach the CFL hitting their peak.

This match also featured the debut of young Defender Maaran, who showed glimpses of a fine talent in his first match itself. KKZ wishes him all the best in his upcoming career with the squad.

Kamikaze Confirms Participation in CFL

A shock decision was announced earlier today, that the senior team of Team Kamikaze will indeed be taking part in their swansong season in CFL. Earlier reports suggested, that KKZ will all but pull out from CFL to continue their pursuits elsewhere. However, it was announced today that the decision to take part in one final season was made on the 25th of June at a high-level board meeting held at Frontier CC.

Top guns of KKZ met up at Frontier CC to charter the new course for the team. However, the most shocking decision was Team Kamikaze's reappearance in CFL's 4th season. Team Kamikaze had played in all 3 previous seasons of CFL winning it in their second season. However, injuries, squad depletion and a overall lacklustre attittude contributed to seeing them finish their worst in the last season. That had led to widespread speculation that Kamikaze will pull out of CFL to concentrate on growth.

When contacted, Team Assistant Managers Seelan and Nesh had this to say, " Kamikaze is still focused on renewal and growth for the team. We see the importance of having new challenges to steer the team to reach its fullest potential. However, on the back of last season's dismal performance, the boys owe it to the history of the team to come back for one last season. It is not about proving anything to anyone, but ourselves. We need to do this, as a duty, as a calling."

However, not everyone was positive about this news. When interviewed, team stalwart USPO remarked matter-of-factly, "Ok, you say about proving it to ourselves. But honestly, i don't see what being in CFL proves. To me, that level of competition proves nothing. But i can accept it, if only this is the last season. Final one, no more."

The CFL has always been a bag of controversy for Kamikaze. While it boasts the most flexible of organisers, and the kind of heart racing rivalry that the EPL boasts of, the organisation has not always been kind in the fixture planning to KKZ. The level of competition has also not always been up to the standard expected by the board, to mould the team into a top-notch islandwide side. However, with the announcement that the team will make it back for one last season out, punters have started placing their odds for the former champions to make a strong formidable presence.

Organiser and founder of CFL Mr Premnathan had a remark to put the whole matter into perspective. "Kamikaze can say what they want about CFL, they might be right or they might be wrong. But till they win the league again, whatever they say will only be the opinions of a team that did not win."

Kamikaze Update

Hi guys,

It's been long since we updated the kkz blog so here it is. Since facing a dismal start to their friendly campaign with 2 loss and 1 win, Kamikaze bounced back in style by winning 3 and drawing 1 out of their 4 games they played after that. That brings the total tally to 4 wins 1 draw and 2 loss. It is also stated that the mood in the KKZ camp is slowly gaining more momentum towards showing seriousness and competitive traits. The locker room chemistry is terrific with new signings Aravin "Muhammad Eli" and Viki "No nick" blending well into the team's infrastructure. The team's young defence leader Janarthan has also been impressing fellow team-mates and is fighting for a first team place.

However, Kamikaze takes this opportunity to express it's heartfelt condolences to Hevy, in light of the passing away of his father. We hope that he will bounce back strong and all our wishes and prayers are with him and his family.

Goalie Ganesh has condemned the team's style of playing 2-3 games a week as "utter nonsense" mainly beacuse he feels that players tend to be fatigued when they come for kamiakze sunday game. He stressed that a rejuvenated side is capable of much better showing than a fatigued side and has pleaded the management to handle this issue immediately so that the team can perform at it's peak. Kamikaze has almost 7 first team players who play an average of 2-3 games on weekends and this might come to be a problem when they start the league.

Kkz juniors, led by captain Vishnu has secured 3rd in their CFL campaign and have made us proud. We extend our congratulations and wish them the best in their future endeavours. With talents like sai, vishnu, ryan and pratheep, it will be soon that they take the u-21 league by storm!

Kamikaze Young guns have gotten their first medals in their first season together. Though the season ended with a heavy defeat, the boys were upbeat over their overall season together. With only 5 seniors at all times, Kamikaze young boys finished their season 3rd placed as Manager Haresh wanted from the team. As the team with the youngest players, We proved each and every team in the CFL league that age doesnt matter. The young boys will like to thank Manjan and Haresh for managing a team that was easy at first but slowly became tougher. And Mentor Victor and Nesh for the countless advices and tips to all players. With this successful season in mind, The young boys will go into their next season with no mercy as they want to clinch their first ever silverware. VIVA LA KAMIKAZE!

The Comeback Kings

Kamikaze staged a remarkable comeback literally through the last kick of the game. Dinesh Thevar scored the winning goal after going down 3-0 with 1 men seeing red. Match started as accordingly to plan by Manager Haresh. Kamikaze were fully focused on attacking as Zhenghua knights we soaking up the pressure. However, Zhenghua knights drew the first blood through a deadly counter attack. Kamikaze were not disheartened by that and continued attacking like that did in the beginning. And again the defence was caught out through another counter attack. Kamikaze went into the break with 2-0. Second half saw Kamikaze start brightly. Shortly in the half, Zhenghua knights scored a third through a free kick which was finished by a header. Zhenghua Knights thought they had Kamikaze buried. And once Pratheep saw a red card for a misinterpreted "gun" action, Zhenghua Knights must have confirmed that feeling. They packed 9 men in their defence forcing Kamikaze literally no way to push for goal. The ever lively Haresh was the man to spark the comeback. A cooly taken volley in the penalty box was exactly what the team needed. Second goal came in 13 mins from time. A wonderful cross saw matthew literally push the ball into the net. Before that goal, Dinesh tried for a extravagant finish but only could see the effort hit the post. Third goal was a mistake within the Zhenghua knights defence that caused an own goal. With literally 2 mins left in time, the hero to grab Kamikaze the 3 important points was Dinesh. After a mix-up between the Zhenghua Knights defence, Dinesh collected the ball controlled with and blasted it into the top. The keeper was shell shocked, Zhenghua Knights were shell shocked. Truly a remarkable comeback in the history of Kamikaze young boys. Next game will see Kamikaze take on Toh Guan 11. Be sure to be there to catch this game.

Update on Kamikaze Youth Squad

As you guys know, Kamikaze has got its very own Youth team. The Youth team is currently taking part in their first CFL league. In its first ever time participating in a league, with a certain amount of help from the senior squad namely Nesh,Victor,Haresh,Barathi and the Youth department head Dinesh, they are taking the league by storm. Fighting for the championship along tough competitors, such as Toh Guan 11 and Zher 04, they are right up in the table fighting for the championship. Having said all that, all updates of their matches will be right up on this blog ASAP.

Kamikaze VS Primekast

Kamikaze young boys, returning after a shock defeat to Fushan Warriors last week, were all determined to prove to the title contenders that they are not out of the race just yet. 10 men Kamikaze defeated Primekast with a resounding scoreline of 4-0 with Dinesh seeing the red. Everything started according to pre-match talk as Pratheep slotted home the first goal after a mix up in the box. 10 mins after the first goal, Pratheep scored a second against an on rushing keeper. However after the second goal, Dinesh, who was already booked for a challenge, got a red card. Primekast were out to get the goals but drew blank. They were dangerous in their set pieces but Pratip, the young boys keeper, was on his toes at all times. Start of the second half saw a shuffle in the formation due to the loss of one man. Deen and Arjun were dictating the game right from the start of the game. Third goal showed the alertness and composure of Haresh and Matthew. After getting a free kick in our own half, Haresh sent a quick free kick straight into the path Matthew who was composed in his one-on-one and placed the ball in the bottom right hand corner. Matthew got his second 10 minutes later with a flick into the bottom left hand after a corner taken by Deen. Makeshift defenders Pratheep and Aravin were alert at all times and helping to clear the lines for the keeper. Even with 10 men,resilience and composure was shown by the young boys. Well done boys!

Ganesh, 27 is a goalkeeper who currently plays for Kamikaze. Known for his one-on-ones, and commandment of area, he in hand with akbar proved pivotal in kamikaze's 2009/2010 season. While akbar was used in the champions cup ties, Ganesh was used primarily as a first choice goalkeeper for kamikaze in the cfl league. Often sporting a bright orange top with huge gloves, he often gets into the "schmeichel" pose before the game, often so imitating his idol.

Ganesh first started his career with Jurong FC and through that , got to know a lot of teams. As his position is a rarity and furthermore combined with his skill as a goalkeeper, many teams raced for his signature. He finally opted to sign for Team Vasantham, a team filled with his friends/colleagues. He spent a good few years at the club before kamikaze manager haresh and scout victor vicky attended one of his games at serangoon stadium. Upon watching him play, both of them simultaneously decided that he is an asset to kamikaze, whom were goalkeeper starved at that time. Although a formal enquiry was made, Team Vasantham accepted and let ganesh join kamikaze in early 2009.

It proved to be an awesome buy as ganesh blended in well with the team, quickly making friends and enjoying his training. With the goalkeeper position fortified in both competitions, kamikaze then went on to win both of them. A fun and jovial guy with a lot of friends base, Ganesh is well respected and also applauded for his goalkeeping antics for the club. His overall performance for the team marks him down as one of the greatest to ever wear the no.1 jersey.

Ganesh currently resides in the east with his newly married wife Vani. Kamikaze wishes them a happy married life in the years ahead and assures fans that they will definitely get to see more of ganesh in the coming season.
