It was a game that Kamikaze approached with some hesitation, but as the game ended, Kamikaze held their heads up high knowing that they grabbed vital 3 points and accumulated a rather healthy goal- difference against a team that many others will have difficulty scoring. It was a game, in which the Kamikaze strikeforce went beserk with star striker Hevy finally repaying his team's trust in him by bagging 4 classic goals. Fellow strike partner Vijay also grabbed a brace despite starting the first half in goal. He and Victor shared goalkeeping duties but even that proved not to be a problem as only one goal was conceded, with 4 other players getting into the scoresheet. In all, it was a fantastic game that Kamikaze can take loads of pride from.

Kamikaze Comes Out Largely Untested

Kamikaze entered this 3rd league match seeking to keep pace with the top two teams. By the end of the match they had firmly established themselves as a team to be watched. They entered Serangoon Stadium in their away colours of Orange looking every bit majestic as they could be. And they sashayed and swayed around the pitch with the panache of a truly title-contending team.

In what was a largely one-sided match, they had 5 different goal scorers all playing their roles effectively. Vijay, Barathi, Safar, Pratheep and Vishnu all got onto the scoresheets. Gerard, Hari, Vijay, Safar and Barathi were all credited with the assists. Akbar was untested as the defence stood firm, and even when he had to make his saves, he did it with class to get a clean sheet. This was not the biggest test for KKZ, for that will come later. Nonetheless the team came out of it with sky-rocketing confidence and will look forward to their next assignment. Safar, who interestingly dismissed all allegations of being an individualistic player, can't stop assisting as he won the Man of the Match award for this match.

This is just another match, another 3 points. While they value these points, the team is not getting carried away, for they know tougher tasks await them if they wanna reclaim glory. Watch this space...

Kamikaze rout S.S to grab 3 points in style

If they were looking to do away the disappointment of last week's draw and bounce back in style, Kamikaze found no perfect way other than to smash 6 past S.S in an extremely one-sided match.

When the whistle blew to signal the kickoff, few would have predicted the rout, as a 10 man S.S kept KKZ at bay and even had a few half chances their way. But in just under 7 minutes, Yasin struck yet again to give KKZ an early lead following some neat footwork from Safar. Safar was one of several players making his Goal Arena league debut for Kamikaze, and he put in a dazzling show to remember. Within 13 minutes, Kamikaze doubled their lead after yet another dazzling run from Safar led to an own-goal as the S.S defender turned his cross into the net.
Halfway through the half, the match was as good as over, as Hevy played in a teasing cross, that Lavanesh, another league debutant, supremely volleyed into the top-right corner for what was arguably the best corner of the day.

That sparked a raft of substitutions, that heaped more misery onto S.S, as one of the substitutes Vijay, another player making his debut, found it almost too easy to link up with Safar. The pair accounted for the next 2 KKZ goals, as Safar remained provided, whilst Vijay did the role of the finisher, to put KKZ up 5-0.

With such a commanding lead, the team took it easy after the break, and concentrated on giving the huge squad ample playing time. That strategy almost backfired, as KKZ conceded a soft consolation goal. However, no harm was done, as Hari, had the final say by scoring his first Goal Arena league goal with a neat finish curled round the keeper.

Kamikaze came out of this match with a high morale. Nonetheless, questions remained. Will the team, improve their passing play to handle tougher opponents. Will the defence remain steady against pacier strikers? Will the management handle the substitutions more effectively? Most importantly, Are Kamikaze Title-contenders??? Watch this space!

Kamikaze has a perfect start shattered

Kamikaze had the perfect of starts as they went up 1-0 in the opening 15 minutes thanks to a wonder strike by Yasin to finish up a super cross from Havey. Havey who had earlier missed a penalty, latched on to good work from Barathi down the right flank to put in the cross that Yasin brilliantly scissors-kicked into goal. That sparked several attacking moves from KKZ mostly originating from El Fazail and Barathi, who made his long awaited comeback with much pomp. However, they failed to convert any of those chances and that would soon return to haunt them as they only ended the first half with a solitary goal to show.

Throughout the match, KKZ showed their weakness in handling set-pieces. It was through a set-piece where they were eventually punished as Chai Chee pulled a goal back, by a brilliantly worked free-kick. Despite dominating possession for the rest of the half, and creating several gilt-edged chances, failure to finish meant that Kamikaze only has 1 point for all their hard-work in their first league game.

After the match, Acting Manager Seelan shrugged off the draw saying that the team has always been slow starters. He also put his support behind striker Havey and promised that the player will come good. While they might not have been happy with a draw, Kamikaze will not let this setback deter them and will be even more determined and focused for the clash with S.S. Like Seelan said, this will not be 2 points dropped, but 1 hard point earned.

First Official Press Conference of Kamikaze

In revealing probably what was the worst-kept open secret in Amateur Football, Kamikaze management officially confirmed its participation in the 3rd Season of Goal Arena Sun PM League Eastern Division. In a closed-door press conference held on 28 September, Team Acting Manager Jayaseelan made this annoucement as well as announcing the details of the new team jerseys.

Seelan: Dear all, Thank you for being here. We are pleased to officially announce that Kamikaze will be taking part in a new league this coming season. We will be entering the Goal Arena Sun PM Season 3 under the Eastern Division. The team is geared up for it, after having gone through 2 assessment matches as well as 6 other friendlies as part of our pre-season warm-up. We are excited and looking forward to doing well in this league.

Reporter: It was earlier announced and reported that KKZ will once again take part in the CFL. So why the sudden U-turn?

S: It is wrong to say that it is a U-turn. After last season, we had always wanted to go to a new league, and we had informed CFL about it. However, there were no proper leagues available and hence we decided to return back to CFL, and CFL was supportive. However, that was when the opening in GA was available and when we informed CFL about the decision, they wished us all the best and supported us fully with our bid.

R: The ties, between CFL and KKZ have always been rumoured to have been testy. Is that true?

S: That's absolute RUBBISH! Ties between CFL and KKZ have always been fantastic. We share a unique bond, and that can never be changed. In fact, our ties have been further cemented by the new Jersey deal. In a co-sponsorship deal to provide our players with 2 jerseys, Team Kamikaze signed up with Vivace Events and CFL to sponsor our Jerseys and this demonstrates the close ties we share with our partners.

R: So what are the objectives for Team Kamikaze in this current campaign?

S: It is obvious, that the winning mentality is deep-rooted into the DNA of Kamikaze. We always play to win, and this new season is no exception. We would be expecting nothing less than a top 2 finish.

R: Can you elaborate on the new Jersey?

S: We have finally acquired both Home and Away jerseys for the team. We would like to thank CFL Sports and Vivace Events for sponsoring both jerseys. The Home jersey will be unveiled on 2nd Oct and it is black-based. The Away Jersey is orange-based and will be unveiled on 9th Oct.

R: Any last words, Seelan?

Majulah Kamikaze!!!

This was not a match to pick themselves after the demoralising defeat to Dboyz on the 10th of Sep. The work on correcting that defeat was done the following week itself, with the team cancelling their friendly to conduct a training session, which was fun, as much as it was fruitful. The team got to work on certain basic drills, positioning and zonal movement, as well as to work on their general fitness.

This match however, was all about forward looking. All this match focused on, was to set the morale right, for the upcoming league. The team paid that much importance on getting a good runout, that they refused to play their 9-men opponents on an uneven scale, and hence loaned two players throughout the match to correct the deficit. Such was the confidence, and determination to get a good runout.

The team tried various tactics and formations, to get a good feel of how to adapt to different systems, and focused priority on retaining possession. The fact, that several first teamers were missing, was conveniently overlooked, by the return of former goldenboys Havey and Vijay, both prolific goalscorers in their own right. The fact that Havey created numerous opportunities for himself and the team, despite failing to score, and Vijay getting himself on the scoresheet, looked ominous for the team.

No doubt, the scoreline was an unflattering 1-0. However this was a game where KKZ created umpteen chances on goal, enjoyed the lion's share of possession, and came out calm, composed and unscathed despite experimenting with various systems.

This was a KAMIKAZE that is nicely gelling together to create a huge impact on Goal Arena. Yes, they are starting their campaign two weeks late, but they will aim to start their league with a bang.

Will this Defeat Stall them or Spur them on?

Kamikaze finally faced defeat for the first time this season. Their first in 7 games. But truth be told, it looked coming for the past 2 weeks with an understrength squad and complacency creeping into the team. But when it finally came, it was fitting that D-boys, their former rivals turned close compatriots were the ones to inflict it. Yeli and Viki have for much of the last 7 months been key integral components of this new look KKZ team, but on this day they were playing in the opposite colours and they did most of the damage. To be honest though, despite having a near full squad, the lack of depth in the centre-midfield position, and a devil-may-care attitude amongst the KKZ camp has sent shivers down the management.

Despite boasting Safar and Fazail in their ranks, KKZ was unable to create any real meaningful threats on goal in the first half, but the start of the second looked real promising, as a long punt from Jayraj from defence found Vishnu, who needed no second invitation to continue his scoring streak, and he found the back of the net with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box.

However, things went downhill for KKZ from then, as a needless freekick saw Viki curl the ball into the net, albeit in the opposite colors. Dboyz, soon took the lead from another setpiece, this time converting a corner with a brilliant header, and Yeli put the final touches on the job after a defensive slip up.

All in all, it was a very demoralising defeat for the Kamikaze camp, and it has sent the management scrambling to rethink plans for the new season, but as has always been said. This is KAMIKAZE, and we will definitely get things right!!!

Fazail was voted man of the match for an industrious performance, in a game that no player really shone. Special credits have to be given to Nesh, Prem and Safar for giving their all and also to Haresh who showed glimpses of finding back his form after a slump. The team also challenges Vishnu to continue his scoring streak.

A Tale of 2 Halves, but the Result is still the same

After the hard fought draw the previous weekend, Kamikaze travelled to the east with yet another depleted squad to take on Orange Warriors at Pasir Ris Sec in what was to be yet another exciting encounter. However, the reason for the excitement was due to be KKZ's own making though. For a match played in a turf field, under such hot weather, and against physical opponents, bringing along just 12 squad members seemed a recipe for disaster. With Fazail, and Safar both out due to commitments, the sole creative threat seemed to fall to the injured Yeli, and this looked to be a low-scoring game.

But KKZ put paid to those thoughts within 2 mins of the kickoff, as Victor dispossessed the opposing centre-mid just inside their half, and raced towards goal, before toe-poking into the right hand corner to give KKZ a surprise lead. Vishnu soon doubled the lead, and took his season tally to 7, once again latching on to a loose ball after a defensive error, and lashed an unstoppable shot that the diving keeper could do nothing about. When Yeli dazzled and jinked down the right flank before putting in a cross, that Gerard scissors-kicked into goal, to put KKZ up 3-0 at half-time, the match looked a foregone conclusion.

However, defensive errors of their own, and fatigue meant that KKZ led in 3 sloppy goals, and were staring at conceding a 4th. However, a neat through ball from Vishnu, saw Victor give chase and benefit when the keeper fumbled, as he put through a cross that Avi converted with style, to give them yet another hard-fought result.

This was not a game easy on the eye, especially the second-half performance of KKZ. However, it must be noted that this was a severely depleted and understrength squad, both in terms of number and quality. Hence, the victory will be savoured nonetheless. But, the nature of the game, has sent the management into the backroom to discuss measures to improve the attendance and balance of the squad heading into what promises to be an exciting season.

Gerard was voted Man of the Match, for a dominating midfield performance, whilst Vishnu has been growing from strength to strength to stake his claim for a First XI spot. Special mention must also be given to retired star Sateesh Ruud Balloon, who took timeoff from his NS stint to put in a top-notch performance to wow his fans!

Kamikaze Fights Hard To Stay Unbeaten

They were told that the opponents were a Malay team. They were told that the opponents were gonna be late for the match. But Kamikaze was not informed that the opponents were gonna be such tough opposition. They were like a motley crew, players banded from everywhere. But amidst their ranks, they boasted 2 players, one a Prime League midfielder, and the other a former National U-23 striker, and between them they scored and created all 5 goals of their team, all long range efforts. However, this is a Kamikaze that has once again reinvented itself. This was a Kamikaze that was capable of instilling fear in its opponents too. This was a Kamikaze that knew how to score wonder goals, and that is what they did as they even-ed a match, that could have swung anyway.

The opponents opened the scoring within 5 minutes, when a routine cross was pumped into the back of the net via a long distance volley. But KKZ responded in style as Safar played a delightful throughball, that Golden Boy Vishnu exquisitely chipped past the keeper. They then went 2-1 up, vis-a-vis the same connection as this time Safar's cross was met with a thumping volley by Vishnu.

Kamikaze had a severe shortage of players, and only had 1 subsitute due to several last minute withdrawals. The deficit took its toll, as quick counter-attacks saw the opponents create several chances, and they squared the game as another long-range shot gave the keeper no chance.

Under-strength Kamikaze came fired up in the second half, determined to match their superior opponents, however the lack of manpower clearly showed as they went behind yet again by another expert cross that was met with an equally superb shot. Kamikaze showed that they could match up in the shot-taking department too, as Vishnu let loose a ferocious shot looking for his hat-trick, only for the keeper to parry the ball onto the path of Victor who managed to tuck it in. The sole respite for the veteran striker, who had a totally dreadful game to forget.

Safar, however was having a magical game and he showed his class, by finally scoring his first goal of the season, by racing on to Dinzo's lofted pass, beating two defenders on the run, and scoring past the Keeper's nearpost to once again bring KKZ on level terms, after the opponents had once again taken the lead via a long shot.

When the opponents, scored their 5th goal, and Victor who compounded his terrible game and missed a penalty, everyone thought that the game was over for Kamikaze. Everyone, except Kamikaze themselves. They kept attacking, and once again Safar found himself fouled inside the box, and this time stepped up to take the spot kick himself, capping a splendid afternoon for him.

Kamikaze, however showed that they still possessed the resilience that has long been their trademark. While they have recruited significantly to their player armoury, there are bad days, where the squad is left depleted. On such a day, like this one, it is the Kamikaze Spirit that will see the team through, like it had. This match was a fantastic warm-up for the tough road ahead. And going by what we saw, there are only good times ahead for Team Kamikaze!

Safar deservingly won the Man of the Match award, but special mentions have to be given to young Keeper Vicky Razgy who had yet another scintillating performance, despite letting in 5 unstoppable goals. If not for his heroics, KKZ would surely have conceded even more, such were the shooting might of the opponents. Vishnu, who continued his goal-scoring form, and Dinzo who put in a flawless performance were all commended by the team management and encouraged to reach higher standards.

Kamikaze Conducts Efficient Business

There has been something very businessman-like about this new incarnation of Team Kamikaze. The way it goes about settling its matters efficiently, the way they turn up for matches with all the players showing excellent initiative, the way the management does not think twice about punishing errant players, the way they dominate opponents. This is a new efficient side of KKZ and the fans hope that this incarnation lasts longer than the previous faces of KKZ.

They squared up against Goal Arena League Alumni Salem Fire. With reports swirling, that Kamikaze are indeed set to join the Goal Arena League, this match-up set the rumour meters ablaze. With pundits noting that this match would be a test of Goal Arena and also KKZ's ability to match up to the league, all eyes were firmly set on how this match would play up.

It would be an understatement however, to say that Kamikaze passed the test with flying colours. The first half ended goalless despite Kamikaze creating a host of chances, and doubts could have started creeping into a lesser team. But Kamikaze have a new found resurgence about their play, and soon made their dominance count after the break.

A trademark short-corner routine saw Safar playing the ball onto Manjan, who made no mistake with the finish. Soon after, Mohawk made amends for a horrendous miss, by playing a through ball onto the path of Victor who flicked it pass the keeper and scored into an empty net.

Young Star Vishnu who is growing in stature with each passing game, got onto the scoresheet in the best of fashion. A brilliant passing move saw Kamikaze complete 10 passes, which was finished as Pratheep cut the ball back to Dinzo who swung in a delicious cross, that Vishnu delightfully glanced into the net to score a first ever goal for Kamikaze with his head.

3-0 was how it ended, and it was yet another businessman-like performance by Kamikaze.

USPO Suresh dominated the centre of the midfield, won all of his aerial duels and stamped his authority on the game. And for that kind of a sizzling performance, his teammates rewarded him by rating him the Man of the Match.

Kamikaze Keeps Rolling Along

The uncertainty over their future league status could not stop them. Loss of 3 key management personnel for this week's game could not stop them. Aggressive and roughhouse tactics indulging Vietnamese opponents could not stop them. Which leads many to wonder, what will it take to stop this new-born Kamikaze Renaissance. Ever since the new season launch, there has been a certain pomp, about this Kamikaze team, and that was once again highlighted as they tore apart their Vietnamese opponents. Whilst, rumours had it, that this was a qualifying game for a new league that they were supposed to take part in, KKZ management would not confirm anything.

That, however, did not stop Kamikaze from dominating this encounter as they beat their opponents 4-2 convincingly. A brace from Vishnu, the first after excellent work by Safar, and the second from an assist by newboy Maaran ensured the young forwards Golden run continued. Another brace to match that was scored by Fazail, the first from the spot kick after dangerman Safar was fouled inside the box, and the second through an excellent free-kick taken after a foul on himself. Fazail's resurgence reaffirmed his status as a deadball specialist in the team, and this can only spell bad news for their opponents.

The man of the match was El Fazail, for his dazzlery on the wings and set-piece brilliance. But credit must be given to Safar, Hasiim, Maaran and Vishnu for an excellent performance.

While, they have had a run of good results, this team must keep its feet on the ground and prepare for tougher roads ahead. For glory is not earned, by sailing through the good times, but by also battling through the tough ones too..

9-Star Kamikaze Soars Ahead

After the first match of their 5 game plan, it took Kamikaze another 21 days to embark on their second match. This time they squared off against Shining Sitare at a 3pm kickoff at Serangoon Secondary.

If they had any doubts, on whether their goal difference could be boosted during this run-in, they were dispelled today, as the KKZ outfit ran riot against their physically superior opponents. Despite losing out in the size, Kamikaze were definitely the technically superior side, and they exploited their experience to maximum as they ran out 9-0 winners with Goals coming in from 6 different players.

After creating several chances in the opening 15 mins Kamikaze got their first goal in the 17th minute and never looked back.

1st Goal: Fazail received a short corner from Victor and picked up Gerard who cushioned a header perfectly for Vishnu to pounce and put the ball in the back of the net.

2nd: Fazail, making his return after a long absence, once again was thick in the action, as he cleverly dribbled past 3 defenders, before squaring to Victor whose sidefooted shot found the back of the net.

3rd: Yeli, now turned provider, this time playing Fazail through, who once again beat 2 defenders before slotting the ball coolly past the keeper, and capping a fantastic return.

4th: Provider turns scorer, as Viki's long ball found Victor who headed the ball onto the path of Yeli who made no mistake by scoring past the keeper.

5th: Yeli then doubled his personal tally, with a Stupendous effort by scoring Directly from a corner to thrill the fans!

6th: Kamikaze took it easy after the half-time by knocking the ball around, but an intelligent move saw Safar play Vishnu down the right flank, who chipped the ball onto the path of Dinesh Manjan who scored off his own rebound, after the keeper had saved his initial shot.

7th: Safar in a unselfish mode played Yeli expertly through the middle and the tricky winger made no mistake as he claimed his hat-trick.

8th: Safar and Yeli were once again involved as they played a neat little one-two that saw Safar squaring the ball to Victor who once again side-footed his way to a brace

9th: The icing on the cake was provided by Dinzo who volleyed the ball home after some hardwork by Jraj and Lavanesh whose pressure on the defence saw them lose the ball at the edge of the box.

Overall, this game was a complete success for Team Kamikaze not just because of the scoreline, but more so because of the way play was approached and opportunities created. Special mention must be given to Vishnu, the young centreforward who is developing very finely and showing a huge appetite for the game, Viki for putting in yet another excellent industrious effort, Gerard, Fazail and Nesh for once again returning to the KKZ fold with a seamless entry that made it look like they were never away.

But the man of the match was clearly Aravin Yeli, whose superb performance left his team-mates raving. The winger who recently recovered from a niggling injury is set to reach his top potential, and that can only be bad news for his opponents.

After 2 games, KKZ have collected 6 points and a goal difference of 10. But to reach the standards of recapturing the CFL crown, consistency will be the key. Will this team, have what it takes to produce this levels of performance every week? Watch this space!

Kamikaze Off to a Flying Start...

Kamikaze started the final phase of its pre-season training by embarking on a 5-game plan, in which they play 5 games and aim to win at least 3 of them and draw one, racking up a goal difference of at least +5. The first of this matches was held today on the 3rd of Jul at Kranji Sec in a 3pm kickoff against a Northern-based Malay team.

They could have never asked for a better start as they won the match 3-2 in a convincing manner despite the unflattering scoreline. Hari, Akbar and Jayraj were standout performers in a match that the KKZ outfit are playing after a long holiday break.

Enduring a nervy start, Kamikaze broke the deadlock when Hari played a short corner to Mohawk whose inswinging cross was met with a pinpoint header by Victor. The score line was soon doubled when Hari played a defence splitting through ball which was met by Mohawk who coolly rounded the keeper before stroking the ball into an empty net.

The opponents came out strongly in the second half and outmuscled the KKZ midfield. Their efforts soon paid off, as they pulled back two quickfire goals to even the match. However, KKZ kept up the pressure with Safar and Hari running riot around the opponents' defence. Their efforts paid off, when Jayraj clinched the winner, when Safar played a short corner to Jayraj, who sidestepped a defender before drilling the ball into the net.

Despite having the burden of pressure on them, KKZ played with immense poise and composure, and this was noted with pleasure by the management. Having secured a good start, the team hopes to build on this and build up a good form to approach the CFL hitting their peak.

This match also featured the debut of young Defender Maaran, who showed glimpses of a fine talent in his first match itself. KKZ wishes him all the best in his upcoming career with the squad.

Kamikaze Confirms Participation in CFL

A shock decision was announced earlier today, that the senior team of Team Kamikaze will indeed be taking part in their swansong season in CFL. Earlier reports suggested, that KKZ will all but pull out from CFL to continue their pursuits elsewhere. However, it was announced today that the decision to take part in one final season was made on the 25th of June at a high-level board meeting held at Frontier CC.

Top guns of KKZ met up at Frontier CC to charter the new course for the team. However, the most shocking decision was Team Kamikaze's reappearance in CFL's 4th season. Team Kamikaze had played in all 3 previous seasons of CFL winning it in their second season. However, injuries, squad depletion and a overall lacklustre attittude contributed to seeing them finish their worst in the last season. That had led to widespread speculation that Kamikaze will pull out of CFL to concentrate on growth.

When contacted, Team Assistant Managers Seelan and Nesh had this to say, " Kamikaze is still focused on renewal and growth for the team. We see the importance of having new challenges to steer the team to reach its fullest potential. However, on the back of last season's dismal performance, the boys owe it to the history of the team to come back for one last season. It is not about proving anything to anyone, but ourselves. We need to do this, as a duty, as a calling."

However, not everyone was positive about this news. When interviewed, team stalwart USPO remarked matter-of-factly, "Ok, you say about proving it to ourselves. But honestly, i don't see what being in CFL proves. To me, that level of competition proves nothing. But i can accept it, if only this is the last season. Final one, no more."

The CFL has always been a bag of controversy for Kamikaze. While it boasts the most flexible of organisers, and the kind of heart racing rivalry that the EPL boasts of, the organisation has not always been kind in the fixture planning to KKZ. The level of competition has also not always been up to the standard expected by the board, to mould the team into a top-notch islandwide side. However, with the announcement that the team will make it back for one last season out, punters have started placing their odds for the former champions to make a strong formidable presence.

Organiser and founder of CFL Mr Premnathan had a remark to put the whole matter into perspective. "Kamikaze can say what they want about CFL, they might be right or they might be wrong. But till they win the league again, whatever they say will only be the opinions of a team that did not win."

Kamikaze Update

Hi guys,

It's been long since we updated the kkz blog so here it is. Since facing a dismal start to their friendly campaign with 2 loss and 1 win, Kamikaze bounced back in style by winning 3 and drawing 1 out of their 4 games they played after that. That brings the total tally to 4 wins 1 draw and 2 loss. It is also stated that the mood in the KKZ camp is slowly gaining more momentum towards showing seriousness and competitive traits. The locker room chemistry is terrific with new signings Aravin "Muhammad Eli" and Viki "No nick" blending well into the team's infrastructure. The team's young defence leader Janarthan has also been impressing fellow team-mates and is fighting for a first team place.

However, Kamikaze takes this opportunity to express it's heartfelt condolences to Hevy, in light of the passing away of his father. We hope that he will bounce back strong and all our wishes and prayers are with him and his family.

Goalie Ganesh has condemned the team's style of playing 2-3 games a week as "utter nonsense" mainly beacuse he feels that players tend to be fatigued when they come for kamiakze sunday game. He stressed that a rejuvenated side is capable of much better showing than a fatigued side and has pleaded the management to handle this issue immediately so that the team can perform at it's peak. Kamikaze has almost 7 first team players who play an average of 2-3 games on weekends and this might come to be a problem when they start the league.

Kkz juniors, led by captain Vishnu has secured 3rd in their CFL campaign and have made us proud. We extend our congratulations and wish them the best in their future endeavours. With talents like sai, vishnu, ryan and pratheep, it will be soon that they take the u-21 league by storm!

Kamikaze Young guns have gotten their first medals in their first season together. Though the season ended with a heavy defeat, the boys were upbeat over their overall season together. The Comeback Kings

Kamikaze staged a remarkable comeback literally through the last kick of the game. Dinesh Thevar scored the winning goal after going down 3-0 with 1 men seeing red. Match started as accordingly to plan by Manager Haresh. Kamikaze were fully focused on attacking as Zhenghua knights we soaking up the pressure. However, Zhenghua knights drew the first blood through a deadly counter attack. Kamikaze were not disheartened by that and continued attacking like that did in the beginning. And again the defence was caught out through another counter attack. Kamikaze went into the break with 2-0. Second half saw Kamikaze start brightly. Shortly in the half, Zhenghua knights scored a third through a free kick which was finished by a header. Zhenghua Knights thought they had Kamikaze buried. And once Pratheep saw a red card for a misinterpreted "gun" action, Zhenghua Knights must have confirmed that feeling. They packed 9 men in their defence forcing Kamikaze literally no way to push for goal. The ever lively Haresh was the man to spark the comeback. A cooly taken volley in the penalty box was exactly what the team needed. Second goal came in 13 mins from time. A wonderful cross saw matthew literally push the ball into the net. Before that goal, Dinesh tried for a extravagant finish but only could see the effort hit the post. Third goal was a mistake within the Zhenghua knights defence that caused an own goal. With literally 2 mins left in time, the hero to grab Kamikaze the 3 important points was Dinesh. After a mix-up between the Zhenghua Knights defence, Dinesh collected the ball controlled with and blasted it into the top. The keeper was shell shocked, Zhenghua Knights were shell shocked. Truly a remarkable comeback in the history of Kamikaze young boys. Next game will see Kamikaze take on Toh Guan 11. Be sure to be there to catch this game.

Update on Kamikaze Youth Squad

As you guys know, Kamikaze has got its very own Youth team. The Youth team is currently taking part in their first CFL league. In its first ever time participating in a league, with a certain amount of help from the senior squad namely Nesh,Victor,Haresh,Barathi and the Youth department head Dinesh, they are taking the league by storm. Fighting for the championship along tough competitors, such as Toh Guan 11 and Zher 04, they are right up in the table fighting for the championship. Having said all that, all updates of their matches will be right up on this blog ASAP.

Kamikaze VS Primekast

Kamikaze young boys, returning after a shock defeat to Fushan Warriors last week, were all determined to prove to the title contenders that they are not out of the race just yet. 10 men Kamikaze defeated Primekast with a resounding scoreline of 4-0 with Dinesh seeing the red. Everything started according to pre-match talk as Pratheep slotted home the first goal after a mix up in the box. 10 mins after the first goal, Pratheep scored a second against an on rushing keeper. However after the second goal, Dinesh, who was already booked for a challenge, got a red card. Primekast were out to get the goals but drew blank. They were dangerous in their set pieces but Pratip, the young boys keeper, was on his toes at all times. Start of the second half saw a shuffle in the formation due to the loss of one man. Deen and Arjun were dictating the game right from the start of the game. Third goal showed the alertness and composure of Haresh and Matthew. After getting a free kick in our own half, Haresh sent a quick free kick straight into the path Matthew who was composed in his one-on-one and placed the ball in the bottom right hand corner. Matthew got his second 10 minutes later with a flick into the bottom left hand after a corner taken by Deen. Makeshift defenders Pratheep and Aravin were alert at all times and helping to clear the lines for the keeper. Even with 10 men,resilience and composure was shown by the young boys. Well done boys!

Ganesh, 27 is a goalkeeper who currently plays for Kamikaze. Known for his one-on-ones, and commandment of area, he in hand with akbar proved pivotal in kamikaze's 2009/2010 season. While akbar was used in the champions cup ties, Ganesh was used primarily as a first choice goalkeeper for kamikaze in the cfl league. Often sporting a bright orange top with huge gloves, he often gets into the "schmeichel" pose before the game, often so imitating his idol.

Ganesh first started his career with Jurong FC and through that , got to know a lot of teams. As his position is a rarity and furthermore combined with his skill as a goalkeeper, many teams raced for his signature. He finally opted to sign for Team Vasantham, a team filled with his friends/colleagues. He spent a good few years at the club before kamikaze manager haresh and scout victor vicky attended one of his games at serangoon stadium. Upon watching him play, both of them simultaneously decided that he is an asset to kamikaze, whom were goalkeeper starved at that time. Although a formal enquiry was made, Team Vasantham accepted and let ganesh join kamikaze in early 2009.

It proved to be an awesome buy as ganesh blended in well with the team, quickly making friends and enjoying his training. With the goalkeeper position fortified in both competitions, kamikaze then went on to win both of them. A fun and jovial guy with a lot of friends base, Ganesh is well respected and also applauded for his goalkeeping antics for the club. His overall performance for the team marks him down as one of the greatest to ever wear the no.1 jersey.

Ganesh currently resides in the east with his newly married wife Vani. Kamikaze wishes them a happy married life in the years ahead and assures fans that they will definitely get to see more of ganesh in the coming season.

Kamikaze fc has lost 2 of it's 3 friendlies in the previous month. Suffering losses to both amateur teams below standard, it however triumped against powerhouses mexican aces. Such a showing is not acceptable in terms of team manager haresh. When asked to comment, he said "players must show a sense of urgency and buck up their level of football so that we can be up there with the best". Kamikaze also unveiled 2 new signings officially , Centre midfielder Viki and right winger aravind also known as eli. Kmaikaze wishes them all the best in their future at the club.

Kmaikaze takes on FC Rainbow Boyance, a semi veteran team this week. With kamikaze's recent performances taking a plunge, team captain Jayraj has vowed to win this game and also spur on his men to the right attitude for this game. Akbar, or "akberrrr" as he is fondly known by his team-mates is a 23 yr old goalkeeper who plyes his trade for team kamikaze. Known for his acrobatics and shot-stopping abilities, akbar made a name for himself between the posts and played for his weekend friendly team before kamikaze came calling in 2009. After a lengthy battle with his former club over negotiations, Akbar formally made his appearance for Kamikaze in mid-2009.

Born on 2nd of January 1988, Akbar studied in chestnut drive secondary school and then proceeded to further his studies in ITE Ang Mo Kio. It was at his secondary school days that he is rumoured to have met and known Yassin, who also plays for kamikaze. Akbar realised at a young age that he always had the passion to become a goalkeeper and also be a good one. Therefore, his love for the position kept him driving on and in time, he matured into a fantastic goalkeeper.

In the middle of 2009, when kamikaze was left stranded without a goalkeeper after their then first choice manoj retired and second choice geven bowing out of the game to a serious back injury, they were looking for a goalkeeper in the market for a goalie. At this time, Yassin reccomended akbar to kamikaze saying that, "this fella will complete the jigsaw perfectly". After seeing akbar in action at a friendly, Haresh made an offer bid to get akbar to kamikaze. In his pilot season 09-10, Akbar lent an enormous paw to help kamikaze achieve their first double in history. First, securing their league adventure and then, helping them to their 1st champions cup victory after denying a stoppage time opponent penalty to keep the score 2-1 to kamikaze. Kamikaze fans will definitely remember what this titan of a goalkeeper has done for the club in his first year and were overjoyed when he said that he will be staying on for many seasons to come.

Although plaqued with working erratic hours at his job, he always makes time for kamikaze and is well-respected amongst players and fans. His career highlights would definitely be the penalty save in the champions cup final, and all fans definitely would rate that as their number 1 choice. Kamikaze is still enjoying the dominance of akbar between the post's and hope that in their next season, "Akberrrrr" will again use his gigantic paw to cushion kamikaze to more silverware. Kamikaze vs Mexican Aces friendly

This sunday was probably the most exciting friendly to date as fate saw 2 giants, Kamikaze and Mexican Aces get pitted against each other in a fierce battle. Although surprised at first, both teams came to accept reality and prepared to take on each other. Mexican aces, come into this game with an unbeaten streak which saw them taking the Championship trophy back to their trophy cabinet at stadio del Ace.

Kamikaze boasted the return of uspo and had a both ganesh and akbar in goalkeeper duties. As well as a boost, they were also let down by the absence of captain jay raj, creative midfielder fazail who was sent to KL to recuperate from his injury and injured yassin who spectated a match. They were also without hevy and mohawk vicky who were still nursing their injuries. They also recalled balloon and vishnu to add more spice to their attack.

It was kamikaze who drew first blood as safar, with a sweet assist from barathi wiggled his way through before cheekily waiting for the goalkeeper to commit and round him to score. Safar's technique is well known but this goal deserves a special praise. After that aces began their play and started getting comfortable on the ball. Kamikaze packed their midfield with hariboy, seelan and viki working in tandem to break up attacks and provide the ball to either barathi or eli to spring into attack. Their tactics and gameplay worked out well as the wingers made a spectacular pass to safar who in turn, lays it out for balloon to tap in despite an onrushing horde of defenders. Although failing to impress last season, the manager's faith in the young striker paid off and he got onto the scoresheet after almost a year.

In the 2nd half, as always , kamikaze were on the backfoot and could not come out of the defensive half, often parrying away any attacks coming their way. Aces were in full frontal attack and it did pay off as they equalised from 2 goals by their blistering fast winger although replay clearly shows that in the 2nd goal, akbar was actually fouled and the referee failed to spot it. With the score 2-2, kamikaze's final throw of the dice came in the form of matthew.

All they knew about him was that he was fast. Some have seen him play. Some haven't. But what everyone saw that day made a stamp that he was a player to watch. Almost immediately after his introduction, he added that extra edge in attack and close to 70 mins of game play, he struck. He got the ball from midfield, sidestepped 4 onrushing players , and blasted the ball into top left of the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper was left shaking his head and kamikaze were left in jubilation. The last 20 mins was kamikaze's to conquer and they did so with some slick passing and possessional play. Final score was 3-2 to kamikaze and all the credit should go to the players, working harder than last week and showing that they have a point to prove especially after last week friendly's clumsy loss. Special mention would also go out to viki, barathi and eli for busting their lungs out for this game regfardless of the different situations they were in. Keep the same attitude going and kamikaze will be rubbing shoulders with many more giants soon. Although aces would feel hard done by, kkz would like to remind them that they were worthy and equal opponents and in no way, lesser compared to us in terms of result.

Kamikaze vs Manjan Fc

Kamikaze suffered a defeat in the hands of a manjan team in a lunchtime kickoff friendly. In a contest which saw kamikaze score all 3 of their goals through headers, they just couldn't see out the game and get the point. 2 headers from haresh and 1 from victor helped kamikaze to a 3-3 scoreline but a last minute goal for the opponents sealed the fixture 4-3.

When asked to comment, Fazail, 25 stated that the lack of support for the man on the ball was the main reason why kamikaze couldnt play their game today. With a strong midfield lineup, kamikaze had no excuses for the result and could only blame themselves. All the players felt hard done by especially Nash, who emphasised that this result has come to show that we need to work harder as a team and also focus on turning our weaknesses to strengths. He also stated that the players need to stick together, help each other and also work towards a common goal.

Club Captain Jayraj has agreed with nash's statement and also brought up the issue of having a standard lineup of 15 per match. He said"this way, we have a fixed number of substitutes and need not have a furry of substitutions to make the game messy".

Kamikaze look to improve when they take on their next opponent on 13/03/2011 @ fuchun secondary 3pm friendly kickoff. With kamikaze handed a boost by goalie ganesh back from marriage leave and ace wingers barathi-lavanesh shaking off injuries to join the squad, there should be no excuse but to return with 3 points. Revamp & New Changes

Hi guys,

Once again, i'm back to update you with the latest happenings in kamikaze. We have quite a few to discuss today so please read up.

1. Kamikaze Delegation

With effect from today, Kamikaze Manager/Coach Haresh has announced his management team for the upcoming ventures. Each of them were given a responsibility and this management was formed to help the team build a solid and reliable foundation. The guys are:

Haresh - Manager(Oversee entire operation & prepare new ideas to be passed down)

Nash - Assistant Manager(Assist & Report team status to Manager)

Jayraj - Captain(Inspire and lead the team on/off the pitch by example)

Hari - Welfare Dept(Counsellor for ANY problems ANY kamikaze player might face & organising social and cohesion activities for the team)

Fazail - Finance Dept(In charge of cash transactions and club finances & taking of attendance for friendlies, training and kickabouts)

Seelan - Communications Dept(Responsible for getting any message across to players, including match call-up, outing alerts, blog updates and kamikaze matter that require players attentions)

Manjan & Barathi(Assisted by Vishnu and Pratip) - Youth Development Dept(Responsible for development of youth talents in every way possible)

Victor - Team Mentor(ANY aspect of the club, the game and the overall morale needs a motivator and an idealist, he's the man. Always around to pass on advice and suggestions and also help keep the overall team running with his ideas)

The roles are designated to each and every person after careful consideration so the team advises that everyone carry out their duties with integrity and for the sole improvement of the team.

2. New changes

As of today, a few important changes will be implemented with immediate effect and this is very important.

ATTENDANCE

- Attendance will be taken for EVERY TRAINING, FRIENDLY AND SOCIAL KICKABOUTS that kamikaze arranges. The attendance consolidated will then be given to the manager to make a decision in naming his squad. To put it easier, in order to be selected to play, you have to come for the 3 important activities which would be training, friendlies and kickabouts. This is to ensure that players will have to be involved in everything and not just turn up and expect to be played.
As we are all working adults and this matter cannot be handled like professional clubs, we have singled out a few scenarios where you can be excused. These instances are:

-If you are unwell on that day

-If you have work/study commitments

If you do have a valid reason which is not listed above, please explain your case to the manager over phone and if it is valid enough, you will be granted an excuse.When you receive an alert for training, friendlies or kickabouts and you confirm your attendance, please make sure that it's your responsibility to attend on that day. Situations which will not be tolerated or given a straight absent case would be :

-Confirming your attendance but not turning up on that day

-Not replying your status but verbally telling your friend that you are coming

-Attending drunk

As stated, this will also be attended in a case by case basis. If you feel that you have a valid reason, please call the manager and speak to him.

KAMIKAZE GAIN-AS-YOU-TRAIN SYSTEM

This system was devised to structure kamikaze's foundation and also hone their team strengths in the process. This whole process will last approximately 16-20WEEKS and in this time, we will NOT be playing competitive football of any sort i.e leagues and championships. This was designed solely to function together as a team and play better football so that we can achieve better results. The structure will be:

Week 1 - Specialist training with coach
Week 2 - Friendly against an anonymous team
Week 3 - Team training to correct errors/improve from the points we noted in the friendly
Week 4 - Kamikaze Kickabout/Friendly within our team

Please keep your sundays free at the time we have this program so that everyone can train as a team and thus improve together, which is the objective of this system.

Having said these, i hope you guys will give your full co-operation and definitely after 16-20 weeks, we'll be able to come out motivated, ready and raring to mount a serious title challenge to whoever is in our way. Our road to improvement starts this sunday with a friendly. I'll keep you updated about the match details. Till then, keep busy with the poll! Ciao

Wedding Bells in KKZ

A joyous occasion took place within the kamikaze team as kkz goalkeeper ganesh tied the knot on 20/20/2011. Ganesh , 27 this year has been a prolific figure between the posts for kamikaze in their campaign and has helped kamikaze achieve the double last season. Signed from team vasantham in the summer of 2009, Ganesh has never let his fans and team down and keeps producing trademark saves week in week out. He is also the 2nd player within kamikaze to tie the knot, the first being the commanding centre-back jayraj who tied the knot in mid-2009.

Team Kamikaze, fans and well-wishers wish Mr&Mrs Ganesh a happy married life and wonderful years ahead.

Fan's Decision

From the recent poll conducted, Fans have chosen KKZ vs Amk rebellious 2nd leg to be the most exciting contest in the CFL 2010/2011 season. An 8 goal thriller, the game saw a spirited kamikaze comeback from 3-0 down.

Hari started the proceedings by driving a thunderbolt of a shot into the top right corner after a set-piece mix up. The shot gave the goalie no chance but secretly ignited the kkz spirit which lead to a furry of attacks. Ace striker safar then proceeded to calmly score two goals by taking the whole defence on each time and managing to slot the ball home from 6 yards each time.

Then came a moment of magic. Aravind, who had been threatening the opposition from the left wing did so again, this time collecting a cool pass from jayraj, angling a shot and driving the ball into the top right with his left foot...all this from the left byline 35 yards out! The goal which stunned the opposition, kamikaze players and the scorer himself just has to go down as one of the best goals that a kamikaze player has ever scored. With the opposition almost resigning, but refusing to go down, safar hit the final nail on the coffin by turning in a free kick with a cheeky back header to get his hat-trick and give kamikaze a 2 goal cushion. At the final whistle, one can only praise the kamikaze spirit and their drive to move on.

Hi kkz faithful,

The blog is up and running again. It serves as a communication and reference portal to KKZ players, staff and fans. So please keep the comments coming and we will try our best to make the blog as entertaining as we can. As you can see, it has been revamped a little so i hope you do spend some time taking a look at the photos and having your say at the poll as well as having a look at our squad list. I will be up with my next post as soon as possible and it will be regarding a few issues discussed amongst the team and players. So till then, please enjoy the blog.

Status Update:

Team kamikaze have finished 4th in the CFL Sports 2010/2011 season. They have won 8 games, draw 4 and lost 3 of the fixtures and have amassed a total of 28 points this season. We would like to say that it was a good job and wishes all players much more success in the upcoming season/matches. We also would like to thank our fans and well-wishers for your support and we would be looking forward to your continued support for our upcoming ventures. Kamikaze Management would like to extend it's hearty congratulations to Mexican Aces for winning the CFL Sports season.

Back From Hibernation

The current state of the KKZ blog and the current state of the team's footballing results have more than a few things in common. Pathetic, unacceptable, and everyone knows it will be better and come good in the end, but no one just knows when. The cleaning up of the blog will begin now and will be completed in a week's time. However, the achieving of the results that befit the team's stature will take some time. The league this season is no longer the aim. The aim would be to rediscover the style of play that makes Kamikaze still one of the most feared and respected teams around. We might be down, but are no means are we out. Viva la Kamikaze

CFL 3 Rd 3

A Kamikaze Team missing out on several First teamers including Suresh USPO, gave the league leaders a good fight, but 3 bad calls including two rejected penalty appeals, and the awarding of one goal which bounced infront of the line, by the referee saw Kamikaze come out of this game with nothing despite having scored two good goals through El Fazail and debutant Sadesh Bernard. The start of a run of bad luck with refereeing disasters.

CFL 3 Rd 4

Lack of a first choice keeper saw Kamikaze concede two soft early goals, however the team did well to come back and lead 4-3 with 1 min to go. Again the awarding of a goal, when the ball clearly did not cross the line, meant that Kamikaze dropped points yet again.

CFL 3 Rd 5

Once again a lack of keeper, resulting in disastrous mistakes by the stand-in keeper saw the team go down 2-0 with 10 mins to go, however a fightback sparked by Mohawk Vicky who scored an outrageous volley saw Kamikaze equalise in virtually the last min of the game through a Safar penalty.

CFL 3 Rd 6

Once again the lack of a proper keeper sorely hurt Kamikaze as they saw themselves go down to Galaticos 3-1 despite having taken the lead through another fabulous goal by El Fazail. All 3 goals conceded from outrageous long shots, added to hurt the team's morale and snuff out any chance of a comeback.

CFL 3 Rd 7

The return of Akbar did little to stop the rotten luck of Kamikaze, as the hardworking defence was the cause of trouble this around, as their hesitance and indecisiveness saw the team go down 3-0 with less than 25 mins left in the game. However, once again it was that man Mohawk Vicky who started the comeback, earning a penalty that Havey coolly converted. Victor King scored the second after some good work by Havey, and Safar grabbed the unexpected equaliser after an awesome cross by Diego Haresh.

The results have been updated, the clean up for the blog has started and it will be complete. Similarly, tweaks have been made in the team. Tactics have been kept simple and we have gone back to the basics. Clear instructions have been given to the players on what is to be expected from them. Whether we will get that elusive win next week, that will set us back on a run of straight victories is to be seen. But one thing that everyone associated with this team, can take pride from is, despite the horrendous run of results, the team morale has been kept high, and the effort given on the pitch has not been left wanting. All we need is a slice of good luck, and some composure, and good things will once again be posted on this blog.

CFL 3 - Round 2

Kamikaze FC struggled to an 1-0 win in their opening match while their opponents for the day, Little Flower opened their league account with a 5-1 win. Adding to that, was the continued loss of key personnel with first choice keeper Akbar and Yasin )Fasting joining the ranks of USPO (Work), Barathi (Exam) and Havey (Injured). While lesser teams, might have been rattled by such depletion, KKZ is a team that has worked hard on its depth. And nothing emphasised it more by the appearance of Master Keeper Ganesh Vivace acting as custodian of the posts.

Kamikaze started the match right where they left off, creating numerous chances within the first 10 minutes. And it was just a matter of time, before they got a break, and it came from the legs of winged wonder Diego Haresh. After doing well to beat the defender inside the box, and forcing him to concede a penalty for handball, Haresh himself stepped up to take the penalty. Taking over penalty duties for this season, Haresh showed nothing has changed as he coolly stroked the ball into the net to give KKZ the lead. And he soon doubled it, with another brilliant volley from just inside the penalty box. With the opponents down to 10 men, for abuse of Referee, KKZ ran riot against them. Victor was the next to get onto the scoreline, with a sublime half-volley after an excellent chipped pass by El Fazail. 3-0 was how it stood as the teams headed into half time.

The second half, saw Little Flower playing with intent as they pulled one back. But Kamikaze showed composure as they did what they did best: Attack. Safar scored two identical goals, as a training ground routine saw him beat the offside trap in the same manner, to clinch his hat-trick after he had struck early to cancel out Little Flower's first goal. His two identical goals, both assisted by Jraj, sandwiched another Little Flower goal, as this match proved to be a goal glut. Haresh was not to be denied his hat-trick either as he got into the act also with his 3rd goal.

7-2 was how it ended. A comprehensive victory for Kamikaze. One that would have boosted their morale for their upcoming big match, against hotshot title rivals: Mexican Aces. With this performance, KKZ seem to only have three words for their rivals. We are Waiting.

After nearly a month's break from competitive soccer, Kamikaze returned to the CFL fold to play the first game of the Casuarina Football League 3. Their opponents, were league newcomers Damai Rovers, who while new to this league, have themselves been crowned champions of the previous league that they were in. Hence it was an appropriate billing for KKZ's first league match, -clash of the champions.

However, as the match got underway, it seemed more like clash of the amateurs, as both teams did not even have 11 men to start. Despite only having 9 men on the pitch, KKZ controlled possession and played with the experience garnered from their previous two CFL campaigns. However in reality, it was a scrappy match, with no clear cut chances to both teams in the first half.

The second half fared better for KKZ as they created numerous chances, but unluckily failed to convert any of them. Just as it looked like KKZ were headed for disaster in their opening match, Haresh played a mouthwatering through-ball to Safar who made sure that even disaster dare not face Kamikaze, as he scored the only goal of the match to ensure that Kamikaze made a winning start.

Special mention must go to the defence especially Anand Achu and co. While the attack of KKZ had a tough time in converting the numerous chances we created, the defence was calm, composed and by far the superior of the two teams. That must sure be an ominous sign for KKZ's title defence. Pun unintended.

While the match itself was not very desirable for Kamikaze, there were a few positives to take away. The never-say-die spirit. For a while, it seemed as if KKZ might not have/need the spirit and fire to win a match. However, it was days like these that epitomise the Kamikaze gung-ho spirit. With the spirit that the boys showed, Kamikaze underlined that they can be a match to any team that aims to dethrone them. To our Rivals: You can try, but I can't guarantee your success..

This management structure is here not for absolute power or have the final say , but rather it has been established as a venue for funds generation , cohesion planning , DND planning , match fixtures , goal setting and most importantly , as a listening ear and a helping hand for any player with ANY trouble that they are facing. Please do not hesitate to approach whomever you feel comfortable within the management. Captaincy will change for friendly games but it will never change during season matches UNLESS Jayaraj and Uspo both didnt turn up for match.

Season expectations :

1) The management firmly believes that achieving champion status this season is a feasible ambition. Therefore , we have to mount a serious challenge to the title and also defend it.

2) Match fees MUST be available for collection after each game.

3) Proper kit MUST be worn at all times. E.g kkz jersey with yellow or blue shorts will NOT BE TOLERATED anymore.

4) Strikers must contribute 30 goals between them for the CFL league only. Any striker toppling the 20 goal personal record will have two of his match fees waived off.

5) This season results will be the one's that will count for DnD. Its to give every1 a fair chance. So please do your best. Your saturday league performance will also count towards DnD.

That's about it guys. The management has planned a Kamikaze cohesion @ Harry's Bar on monday 10th august. Fans who wanna join may call any of the management to make reservations. Let's go out there and show the world what champions are made of. KAMIKAZE!!!!!!!

Champions Cup - Grand Final

This was the moment the players were waiting for. This was the time, where even the 8-5 defeat the previous week couldn't dampen their spirits. Full attendance by the players, and an enormous turnout of support from family and friends just heightened the atmosphere by a million times. The venue was perfect, a large spacious astro turf field with lots of space for spectator viewing, despite the lack of a grandstand. And it was to be on such a grand stage, that the winner of the Champions Cup were to be crowned. Did KKZ have what it takes to win the first final of their history.

From the start, it didn't look convincing, Alkatraz had the better possession, and whenever KKZ players did have the ball, tough and dirty tackles came their way to prevent them from settling down. But on this day, the players wearing the green and black striped jersey were in no mood to whine and complain. They fought hard, and tracked behind every lost ball, not thinking twice about putting in a strong challenge of their own. It was only a matter of time, before opportunities were created and both Haresh and Havey had half chances that were snuffed out.

But with 10 mins to go in the half, a routine team move saw Hari win possession of the ball and release Fazail who looked up and played a perfect diagonal ball into the path of Yasin who controlled the ball with one touch inside the penalty box and took a shot with the next. The keeper did well to block the shot, but he could only parry the ball back to Yasin who made no mistake this time as he poked the ball into the net and wheeled of into a delirious crowd of fans and players. The reason why the half ended at that score, was the stoic defenders of Kamikaze who shrugged off the disappointments of the previous week, and the excellent keeper Akbar who showed KKZ what they missed most.

With a goal in their back, KKZ started the next half with such poise and elegance and showed their fans and supporters the beautiful football that they were famed for. Chances were created at will, and they could have easily gone 3 goals up. But they had to wait till the 62nd minute to double their lead, as Havey easily beat Alkatraz's offside trap and kept his composure to beat the keeper to earn his reward for having put a wonderful day's work at the office.

KKZ had a glorious chance to go 3-0 up, when they were awarded a penalty for a kungfu tackle on Thina. However Victor who stepped up confidently, blasted the ball above the post to ensure that the tie remained exciting at the expense of his team. However, it was not just Victor doing silly things on the pitch to ensure that the match remained thrilling. The referee played a wonderful role in turning the foregone conclusion of the match into a cliff hanger.

In addition to awarding yellow cards for non-existent fouls, and awarding a free-kick to the keeper after he had jumped knee straight at Havey, the referee made another excellent decision. He awarded a penalty to Alkatraz after Prem had chested the ball OUTSIDE the penalty box. Alkatraz repaid the faith of the referee as they neatly tucked the ball to cut the lead into 1 and give everyone around the field nervous moments.

Just when everyone thought the match could not get any more farcical, the Referee awarded another penalty to Alkatraz after Achu won the ball off the the Alkatraz striker's legs. The Alkatraz player once again stepped up confidently to take the penalty. But this time, as the expectations around the field grew, and anxious faces in the KKZ camp awaited, Akbar who had singlehandedly repelled many Alkatraz attacks made his star-studded final move as he guessed correctly and parried the penalty shot away. And that was the moment, when the referee decided that even he cannot change what the soccer gods had already predetermined. He soon promptly blew the final whistle, as Chants of the Kamikaze anthem blasted around the pitch, together with Vuvuzela roars.

Kamikaze had won the first ever final that they had competed in, and with all due respect to their opponents; they truly deserved to win. As the organiser later said, The Best Team Won!

To all our fans, supporters and players, I as the Editor will take this moment to just say one thing. Thank you for being there, in our downs, in our ups, in our moments of uncertainties. Thank you for loving us unconditionally, and being the pillars that hold this great team high up. But, this is not the end. It will never be, for this is just the beginning, of a mission to redefine soccer. And such a mission has no end!

Friendly at Chestnut Drive Secondary

After the euphoria of the previous week's epic semi-final, the team took a breather to play a friendly against unnamed opponents. However, a combination of weather clashes and field unavailability saw the CFL 2 Champions playing against CFL newcomers Mexican Aces. Mexican Aces are well known in the local soccer circle, and are familar opponents to KKZ having defeated them 4-1 last year in a friendly. Whether it was seeing, such fierce opponents, or still being caught up in the hangover of last week, no one knows, but KKZ slumped to a horrific defeat that would surely wreck their preparations for the Cup final the following match. It has been a long time, since any team scored more than 4 goals, against Kamikaze. In fact the last time that happened was on 6 Sep 2008 when KKZ conceded 7 goals to FC MBOG. However, the tragedy of this match was to eclipse even that defeat, as KKZ conceded 8 goals, in a 8-5 defeat that they couldnt avoid despite the lion hearted displays by USPO and Fazail.

We can sit down and analyse what went wrong, but its gonna be of no use. We were beaten by a team that was more hungrier than us. And this will be the story for the upcoming season. Many teams will be hungry for our blood. Do we sit back and offer it, or do we fight to protect our title. The players will have to answer it themselves, but on behalf of the management trio of Haresh, Seelan and Fazail, i assure you there will be changes.

PS: It should be noted that the last time, KKZ conceded more than 4 we didnt have a first choice keeper for the match. The same scenario as now.

Champions Cup - Semi-Final

This was the most hyped up semi-final of the Champions Cup. A match that would have made a fitting final, ended up being played in the semi-final stage due to KKZ's own undoing when they went down meekly against Alkatraz in their group stage match. However, that was not the only story at play here. The last time these two opponents played, in 2008, Kamikaze FC scored the first goal of the match only to be battered soon after, losing 12-2 in what remains as the biggest defeat of their history. Several key players remain in the team, and when talked to about that fiasco, they would only speak about the pain and scars that remain from that thrashing.

However, things have changed very much since then. The older players matured physically and mentally, several new players were brought in and indoctrinated with the Kamikaze spirit, and new bonds were forged to form a tightly-knitted team of hardworking and talented brothers. Outsiders FC came into the match as firm favourites and were banked on by the punters to end KKZ's fairytale season. The problem was, they believed it too.

Within 5 minutes of the kickoff, an excellent ball from Fazail, found Diego Haresh in his favourite left wing position, and he needed no second invitation to jink pass the Outsiders rightback before showing exceptional composure to cross the ball into farpost, where Thina da Silva was waiting. This youngster has been a highly-rated success story of the KKZ youth academy and he needed no prompting to nod the ball into the net and give KKZ a very important lead in a tough match. The goal helped ease the pressure on KKZ and they started playing the ball all over the park against their more illustrious opponents.

The possession told as Havey's undying pressure broke the defender down, and Havey pounced on to the loose ball before unselfishly squaring it for Diego, who once again celebrated his return of form with a calm finish to send the team into ecstasy. While the half ended 2-0, it was by no means done easily. Outsiders showed why they are the giants of local amateur soccer, by pouring into the KKZ half in numbers. But stoic, unyielding defence by KKZ, led bravely by USPO, Jraj and Spaceship meant that only frustration was increasing for the Outsiders forwards.

The second half started the way it ended, with Outsiders attacking in numbers, and trying to get an equaliser, but the result was the same as they were to find that this Kamikaze team was not one that they had fun thrashing. This was a team, while smaller to them in achievements, was no lesser than them in terms of desire and spirit. This was a team, that brought the forwards of the highest scoring team to their knees and reduced them to throwing tantrums, and wild tackles. Even a wrongly awarded penalty to Outsiders, could not help them as the Outsiders player saw his shot hit the post and come out. This was a day, where history could be made. And that was why, even when Akbar, who had one of his best perfomances in the KKZ jersey, was finally beaten when the Outsiders forward finally managed to pull one goal back, confidence in the KKZ camp never wavered. They fought hard for every ball, received nasty tackles like men and managed to pull off the unthinkable. Final score: KKZ 2 - Outsiders 1! And Team Kamikaze enters the first Cup Final of its history. The team has come a long way, from its twig-based formation days. Kamikaze is now the inspirational story for all young amateur teams. That success can be achieved even after undergoing the worst trials and humiliations.

This is not the end, The Final will not be the end. Kamikaze, we are here not for the victories, or the glamour or the prizes. We are here to redefine Amateur soccer. And such a mission has no end. KAMIKAZE!!!

A training match to prepare for the big game in the next week. Focus was on short passes and tactical movements. Kong's bringing along of a big white board and Haresh sitting out of the match to focus on strategical movements all showed that the result of this match was not important but rather the getting into shape for the semifinals was. Objectives of the game was met, and a victory just made it sweeter. 3-0 to KKZ was the final score.

Champions Cup - Grp Stage 4th Match

In the last group match, Kamikaze had to win by atleast a 5 goal margin to have any hopes of topping the group and avoiding Tournament favourites and footballing giants Outsiders FC in the semi-finals. The intent was clear on the KKZ side, as they stormed to a 2-0 lead within 20 mins, with Yasin and Victor getting onto the score sheet. However, their recent problems in dealing with set -pieces once again reared its ugly head as they conceded one off a corner that saw their lead being cut going into half-time.

The second proved be to be a different story, as despite Pending Utd attacking non-stop, KKZ played with more attacking intelligence and caught them cold on the counter attacks. Yasin doubled his tally, after good work from Safar, who later scored one of his own, before El Fazail finished off the rout in a spectacular fashion by chipping the keeper from 20 yards out. And that was how the match ended, 5-1 to KKZ. However, the 'lack of goals' meant that KKZ ended up being second in the group and had a date fixed with giants Outsiders in the semis. A stunning 12 game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end when Kamikaze FC met Team Alkatraz in the return leg of their group stage match. Atleast a draw and top the group, that was the equation for KKZ, however, complacency, inability to adapt to the horrendous pitch and bad refereeing meant that KKZ failed even to get a point. They conceded their first off a penalty and the second off a corner, and though Havey pulled back one before half-time, it was not enough to change the game in their favour as Team Kamikaze slumped to an unexpected defeat which meant that they had to wait till the last group games to know their semi-final opponents. Can they bounce back from this defeat? The next few results will show..

Kamikaze has secured a passage to the quarter finals after beating pending united in their last group game. Kamikaze FC also awaits the results of pending vs alcatraz so that it would be clear that who their opponents will be in the quarter finals. When asked to comment about the possibility of a mouthwatering clash between outsiders fc and kamikaze , Team Manager Haresh said that " we came with a mindset to meet tough challenges in this tournament , and meeting outsiders is also a clash that i will look forward to definitely!". Having recently crowned champions of CFL 2009/2010 , Kamikaze FC went on a 12 game unbeaten run before crashing out to alcatraz fc. Known for collecting wins while gaining momentum and their fierce fiery attacking brand of play , kamikaze fc is also a hot favourite to snatch the Champions Cup away from its rivals. In more ways than one, this was to be an emotional match for Kamikaze. The field had bad memories, where they had lost twice in 3 outings, the last being to Eastboyz in a match where their unbeaten streak ended, title hopes wrecked and management changed. However, things had changed very much since then. Since that fateful day, the team has gone on another unbeaten streak of 12 games consisting of 11 wins and 1 draw, including 7 consecutive wins in the league. In the process they sewed up the league in convincing fashion by winning by a record 5 points margin. That was to be the reason why this match was emotional as well, since the trophy presentation was to be held after the match, no player in the KKZ camp wanted to lose and mar the mood, even though the opponents were good friends AMK Rebellionz.

The match started rather sluggishly as KKZ did indeed seem overawed by the importance of the moment. In fact it was Rebellionz who had all the better chances, and only a lack of composure and brilliance from returning keeper Habib, prevented them from going ahead. However, against the run of play Havey's probing run against the Rebellionz defence saw the ball finding its way to Victor King who made no mistake in beating the keeper and finishing the ball coolly to give KKZ an unexpected and probably undeserved lead. However, the goal seemed to spark the boys into life, as KKZ began attacking and were then unlucky to finish the half without more goals.

The second half started brightly as within minutes, Havey finished off excellent work by Lavanesh, who beat two defenders before crossing into the penalty box, where, Havey was there to slam the ball home. With the two-goal lead, the team started to take their foot off the pedal as they were getting ready to celebrate. However, that nearly bit them as Rebellionz showed exactly why they were a highly rated team by going close on more than one occasion. Akbar in goal and Jana in defence made sure that the scoreline didn't change however and 2-0 was how it ended. While it was not a good match for Team Kamikaze, no one seemed to care as the post match celebrations started soon after the final whistle. Videos will be posted of the presentation, but a few words must be said to the boys of Team Kamikaze.

The victory we achieved now was the result of hard work by you guys and people before you for 6 years now. To have gotten here, we have gotten through countless obstacles and heartaches. But now that we are here, being complacent would be the last thing anybody wants. Enjoy your victory, taste your sweet success, but come next sunday, it's back to business. No hangover, no partying, no victory parade. Just pure business.

After a morale boosting opener in the first match and the subsequent walkover fiascos in the CFL 2 which saw Team Kamikaze being crowned League Champions without even having to kick a ball against El Calcio or Dboyz, the team got back to business at Compassvale Secondary to attempt to achieve a unique double of their own.

However, what were to face them were not just tough opponents in the form of Team Alkatraz, but more rather, dangerous opponents in all senses of the phrase. Right from the first whistle, tackles came in fast and furious against Team Kamikaze who now more than once have had to play against teams who engage in physical play to thwart the attacking play of the team. However, the brave warriors of KKZ drew first blood, when sensational new loan signing, Doctor scored a screamer from the edge of the penalty box. Doctor of Kawabanga and Eastboyz fame, had been a long-term transfer target for Kamikaze and this goal just showed glimpses of why.

His centre midfield partner of the day, USPO showed that besides being one of the best centre-backs around, he can be an awesome midfielder too, when he finished off a free flowing move after industrious running to be at the right place at the right time.

Though Kamikaze played without a regular keeper, they ensured they finished the half with the upper hand, with Havey getting into the scoresheet in style with a delightful first half hat-trick. His goals, all oozing class made sure that Alkatraz were shut out despite scoring 3 of their own, due to keeping errors. And the half ended 5-3.

The second half was a completely different story, as the motives of the teams had changed. Alkatraz were out to intimidate KKZ and attempt to break their legs in the process, KKZ had to protect themselves as well as attempt to play soccer. It was an interesting battle that Alkatraz seemed to have won, with the referee seemingly having forgotten his cards and whistle. In fact, it was to have been a fairytale ending for Alkatraz, as they pulled one goal back and almost scored another, if not for the heroics of JayRaj in goal.

However, it was wonderkid Safar who was to have the final word as he slammed in KKZ's 6th goal and the final goal in this 10-goal thriller. In the end, KKZ left with their heads up high, legs well intact and 3 points in the bag. Till we meet our dangerous opponents, who didnt seem to fully understand our team name.

While they didnt get a chance to immediately atone for their league misdemeanors of the previous week, the KKZ warriors embarked on a new journey 2 weeks later in what was to be the first group match of the Champions Cup.

The Champions Cup is a 8-team football tournament organised by Football Republic. The tournament will be played in the following format: 4-team round-robin group stage, Top 2 proceeding to semi-finals. So in their first group match, Kamikaze travelled to Sembawang Secondary School, (which according to some pundits is the best grass pitch in Singapore) to take on Pending United.

KKZ were determined to put the disastrous result against Prisonerz to rest by putting in a good performance against their unknown opponents Pending United. The game started brightly for Kamikaze, as their flowing passing and good off the ball movements showed why they were the current league leaders. Their efforts were duly rewarded, when once again opponents found it hard to mark the mesmerising Cristiano Barathi and conceded a foul to him in the penalty box. Victor King, the designated spot-kick taker stepped up and scored his 6th penalty for this year.

From that point on, KKZ were all over their opponents, and played really eye-catching football complete with exquisite passing, running and switching of play. It was a matter of time before the second goal came, and it was a beauty with a 20 yard curler from Lavanesh Valencia beating keeper before dipping into the far post. Most teams are lucky to have one fantastic winger, but KKZ is really proud to boast of two exciting wingers in the form of Lavanesh and Barathi, and watching the two of them play is really a treat for the eye. Barathi soon got into the act, as he finished off good work from Hari and Havey by slamming the ball past the hapless keeper to put KKZ in the driving seat into the halftime break. 3-0

The teamtalk at half time was clear, there were to be no repeat of the meltdown that afflicted them a couple of weeks ago. The motive was to keep possession and not give a yard to their opponents. True to expectations, Pending came hard on KKZ pouring forward attackers in numbers and making robust tackles. However, KKZ stuck to their planned tactics and repelled their opponents' attacks with class and skill. They even had time to go on counter attacks of their own and two such attacks won free kicks that were to be executed with style. The first saw Hari fake a kick, with Seelan floating the ball into the far post where Lavanesh cut the ball back for Sateesh Balloon Nistelrooy to grab his first goal for KKZ in 2 yrs. The second saw Yasin float the ball towards an offside Victor King, who moved away from the play of the ball to let Cristiano Barathi cut the ball back to Sateesh who doubled his tally immediately. The last goal of the match was off a set-piece too. Faizal played a short corner to Haresh who chipped the ball towards Victor King, who finally scored his first goal of the year from open-play by powering a header past the helpless keeper.

While KKZ did concede a late consolation goal, there was to be no denying that this was a class act by the team in terms of defending, attacking and passing. What needed to be done was done with beauty, and without a recognised keeper too. The omens are there that the league will be sewed up real soon. For that is all that the team is thinking of right now. The very first league title. Here we come.

With the round 13 match against Eagle FC abandoned due to the team's disqualification and 3 points abandoned to Kamikaze, all eyes were set on the Round 14 clash with Prisonerz FC where a win will virtually assure them of their first title.

18 Apr @ Springfield Secondary School 3pm

The team arrived at the Springfield sec pitch, with a quiet confidence that they will get the maximum points needed to sew up the title and kick off their celebration parties. However, within minutes of the kickoff, their moods were dampened as a long range shot from the Prisonerz midfielder managed to escape all the bodies and end up in the back of the net to give Prisonerz a surprise 1-0 lead. However, credit must be given to the way KKZ recovered from that setback. Champions are made not just by the positives, but how they recover from the negatives. Before the half was over, Kamikaze found itself up by a 3-1 scoreline, thanks to two penalties from Victor King, converted after fouls on Cristiano Barathi and Havey Adebayor sandwiching a surprise goal from Neshta who once again scored against Prisonerz after netting the centurion goal against them in a pre-season friendly.

Kamikaze started the second half even stronger, as Jraj made it 4-1 just before the hour mark to put the leaders in the driving seat and virtually kick off the celebrations. However, that would be to be the reason for the meltdown that was to occur. KKZ started celebrating mentally, and without the midfield presence of Hari and Yasin to stabilise the midfield, the game soon saw KKZ concede 3 hilarious goals straight out from a blooper fest. The play was so bad and comical, that KKZ almost conceded 2 more and lose the game. However, they managed to hold on to a point and avoid a completely disastrous outing against Prisonerz Fc.

The fact that KKZ actually fought to salvage a point against Prisonerz can only be attributed to one factor. Complacency. Arrogance is cool. Complacency is not. But putting this one bad result out of a completely glorious season, KKZ still remain confident. The league WILL BE SEWED UP IN THEIR NEXT LEAGUE MATCH. As much as El Calcio is a friendly team, they have to face a backlash from the team that is looking forward to winning its FIRST EVER league title. A response will be given.

Kamikaze returned to the field they played the previous week to face a tough league opponent in the form of Saaeka. While the scoreline in the first leg of their meeting boasted a 6-1 win to the league leaders, the actual result was in fact hard laboured with the halftime scoreline reading 1-1. This time round, KKZ were in no mood to let such setbacks affect their charge to the league title as they headed to the pitch in a buoyant mood. Midfield maestro Hariboy's birthday the previous day, just gave the team an added incentive to sew up the result and most importantly bring them that much closer to the league title. With such determination to win, it was no surprise that KKZ sewed up the match well before halftime with goals from Lavanesh Valencia, El Fazail and Safar Torres. However, the roughhouse tactics from the opponents, proved to be a sparking point in the team tactics during the halftime team talk and that provoked a heated discussion amongst senior players Victor King and El Fazail. Yet even the overheated argument, was not able to cause a dent in the play of Kamikaze and give a glimmer of hope to their opponents who wished they could drop some points. In the end, the match ended 3-0, and only hastened KKZ's route march towards the league title. Akbar, the keeper for the day, and KKZ's standout keeper of the league, not only kept his first clean sheet for Kamikaze FC, but also single-handedly made sure that Saaeka were not given any chance back into the match. And for his stellar efforts, he was awarded his second Man of the Match award for KKZ. Congrats Brother Akbar.

Kamikaze played a friendly, their second match in 3 days, on a Easter Sunday against a fellow amateur and upcoming team Budget FC in a brand new pitch in the east side. The odds were severely stacked against KKZ as they could only start 10 men with several key players out against an unknown team in a friendly match. However, they were boosted by the return of Neshta, Geven Barthez and Florentino Prem, three stalwarts of Kamikaze FC and that gave the team the confidence they needed to secure the result. In actual reality, the match was largely one-sided as KKZ were all over their opponents and the final scoreline was infact largely flattering to their opponents, as KKZ missed several gilt-edged chances. However, the 6-0 result recorded as a result of a brace from Yasin Scholes, and Safar Torres with a goal a piece from Havey Adebayor and Diego Haresh was a warning to their league rivals who are hoping that the league leaders lose point. Man of the match has to be Safar who scored two and created 2 more and grabbed the match by the scruff of its neck and wrote his imprint on it.

Kamikaze VS Altos FC

With a long weekend and saeka FC looming ahead of their calender , kamikaze fc took no chances on their momentum and decided to play a friendly against old foes Altos FC.

Altos , boasting a strength of good array of midfield and attack arsenal were on par with kamikaze on head to head comparisions and this made the match more exciting. Furthermore kamikaze had to start with a makeshift but fantastic squad against altos fc.

First half began with marvellous midfield possession from both sides never really penetrating as cautiousness took a toll on a hot friday afternoon. But kamikaze as always couldnt sit back and started to pound on Altos Door and it opened on the 20th minute wen a spaceship slice pass found haresh who slotted home from 6 yards. The 24 yr old, donning argentinian colours was on sensational form and was an essential attack ingredient in kamikaze fc's quest for the title. This resulted in altos coming at us in numbers and in a fluid conter attack , seshan dazzled on the left wing cutting in and firing from close range , only for the keeper to parry it and on comes Seelan to blast the ball home. From this point , the game was leaning on kamikaze's favour as Hariboy and Seelan den proceeded to keep the altos midfield quiet.

The game was sealed before the 1st half when spaceship jinked past 2 defenders and floated a beautiful ball to seshan who ended his well timed run planting the ball in the back of the net with a brilliant header. And thats hw the teams went into the dressing rooms at half time.

2nd half and the tides were turned. Altos began attacking all out as a change in formation saw kamikaze midfield overpowered. But this joy was to be shortlived as the kamikaz no.10 picked up the ball in the left wing , skinned 2 midfielders , left the last man stranded with his blistering pace and placed the ball in the left corner for kamikaze's 4th of the day. After that it was 1 way traffic as altos lost fire and determination. They did manage to get 1 back but that too was shortlived as Janarthan fired home from close range after deen his the post from his curler. To sum up kamikaze's brilliant afternoon , Spaceship then proceeded to outturn oswind , and shot low and hard giving the goalkeeper no choice but to parry it into his own net.

Special Mention goes out to Haravin and deen who filled up the sideback roles with immaculate defending , spaceship who gave their sideback a torrid time and haresh who scored a brace.

Congratulations to veera who showed promising talent and unselfish for his age and kamikaze will watch his growth.

Man of the match goes to seshan who dazzled , scored and jinked all around the opponents and made the afternoon a little hotter.

The shins might have been sore , knocks seem imminent , relentless pressure from opponents clinging onto us hoping we'd never reach the finish line , opponents hot on heels checking the league table just prayin we wld have been slain. Lets keep this post very simple.. This is not planned, neither scripted but just a straight up post from the bottom of my heart.

1) Eastboys..
Others might hate them, but we at Kamikaze simply love them. Their contributions to the building of Kamikaze will never be forgotten and will always be etched in the hearts of the Kamikaze management. They have their own brand of soccer, and while i personally wish i could take such an attitude to soccer and enjoy soccer rather than focusing on the extras, deep down i know many can't. And that is why they forever have my respect and love.

2) Youngsters..
I wouldn't be too far off the mark if i were to say Kamikaze has the best crop of youngsters around. Thina, Navin, Lavanesh and Barathi are more than a match for any player around. The fact that they are all under 22 with Barathi being the eldest at 21 only augurs well for the future of KKZ. Breeding young, committed exciting soccer players has always been a Kamikazian aim and will continue to be so. These four youngsters have my respect for putting in the hard work to be where they are.

3) Pioneers..
Yasin, Seelan, Jayraj, USPO and Spaceship. They have all been around for a very long time now. The common thing about all 5 is that they have all gone missing over the years for various reasons. But they have all managed to get back their bearings and return to the home. There might be many different reasons for their inaction, but there are only two for their return. Love for Soccer, and Love for Kamikaze. Oh wait, that might be one reason after all.. We love you guys too...

4) Key Players..
Every other team might have one or 2 important key players. But Kamikaze is fortunate enough to have 4 of those. Safar, Hariboy, Havey and Fazail. This 4 can win any match on their own, and any team would be lucky to have them. But having said that, they are very lucky to have played for THIS team. They all know that individually that they are good players, but the opportunities and chances given to them by Kamikaze can never be gotten anywhere else. Kamikaze is lucky, but you guys are luckier!

5)Utility Players..
Over the years, we have had many numerous players who have came in and helped us out for matches. Rest assured that you guys have never been forgotten. We are not just a soccer team, we are a way of life, and we are honoured that you guys have been a part of our lives.

6) Haresh and Me
Everyone knows that Haresh is the manager of this team, assisted by Seelan and Fazail with me serving the blog Editor's role. But at no point of time, have we ever acted as an individual. We have always thought, behaved, played and breathed as a team. Personally we might have had differences, and that is human nature. But professionally, when it comes to this team we have thought of ourselves not as individuals but as KAMIKAZE. Whatever we do, we do it for our team. And that's why our teammates understand our actions because whatever they do, they do it for the team too..

Kamikaze. It has never been a soccer team only. It has never been about any one man. It has never been about purely results. Its about achieving a complete balance of talent, hardwork, determination and strategy, to produce a vibrant display of attacking football while securing the result and picking up ourselves after dark times to shine during our bright times..

Kamikaze Football Club travelled down to the East side for arguably the most important match of their history. The fact that they were playing against their brothers from different mothers under the name of Eastboyz just made this story that much more dramatic. Clash of the brothers, Clash of the table-toppers, Clash for the title, El Classico were just many monikers given to this match. However, in reality, this was one of the most mellowed down Eastboyz vs Kamikaze matches every to have been played, atleast in terms of the pre-match hype.

The match however lived up to its complete billing as an exciting clash between two of the best teams in the CFL Season 2. It took mere minutes for Eastboyz to draw the first blood as a floated corner, saw Hariboy clash with keeper Akbar with the ball ending up in the back of the net as a result. While conceding a goal like that might have dented the spirits of any other team, this was Kamikaze and they were not about to let such a setback affect them.

Within minutes, Hariboy redeemed himself, as he played in a wonderful throughball in the right channel for Cristiano Barathi, who had a redemption of his own, by keeping his composure and stroking the ball into the net.

The joy was to be short-lived though, as another corner proved to bite Kamikaze as Augustine, the Eastboyz star, scored with his first ever headed goal. The Wayne Rooney-like talisman for Eastboyz have now scored both times against Kamikaze.

But KKZ are not one to let statistics and sentiments affect them as they continued doing what they do best, which was to attack. Safar Torres, who with his second season in Kamikaze has won over all the doubters across the island, showed exactly what he was capable of, as he latched on to a loose ball, beat two defenders with his silky dribbling and then shimmied past the keeper before walking into the goalpost. And with that, KKZ headed down into the halftime with the score at 2-2. Both sides emerged out for the second half with equal optimism. But what happened next was to be too hard to for anyone to comprehend.

A routine tackle by Eastboyz stalwart Francis 25 yards out was penalised by the ref and a freekick was awarded. El Fazail, midfield maestro of Kamikaze stepped up to take it and he unleashed a curler that anybody will be proud of as it looped into the top left hand corner to give KKZ the lead. Yet another match-turning goal by this man who is fast becoming a legend.

Before, the blink of an eye, Hariboy who had been having a fantastic game made an excellent defence splitting pass to Safar who cheekily dummied and let the ball run to Barathi who once again kept his cool and made no mistake in doubling the lead. Excellent comeback by this wonderkid after his recent dip in form.

Within another few minutes, Safar Torres showed why Kamikaze paid the hefty transfer funds and wages to sign this superstar, as he latched on to a longfield punt from keeper Akbar, shrugged off the marking of the Eastboyz defender and unleashed a shot that the keeper had no chance of saving. 5-2 to Kamikaze.

As the match winded down to the closing minutes, Kamikaze found time to score another as a brilliant team effort saw Nayee producing the final pass to Yasin who grabbed yet another goal in what has been a fairytale season for him. 6-2 Kamikaze and that was how the match ended.

This was a match that Kamikaze dedicated to all that they stand for. Eastboyz are a very good team, had been one during the entire season so far and will continue to be so. But Kamikaze's ideals are far different. It is very hard to build a solid team of brothers, nurture new young talents, manage superstars, play attractive football and yet produce results. But that is exactly what Kamikaze has stood for and achieved this season. They have beaten every team in the league atleast once this season, scored the highest number of goals thus far, conceded the fewest and lead the league by 6 points with 5 games to play. Yet this is a team, that's still a product in the making. They still have lotsa mistakes to correct, and will only get better.

PS: In terms of footballing genius, he is a complete superstar. Yet, he can only get better with slight improvements to his finishing and killer instinct. But what he has brought to Kamikaze is more than his goals or assists. He has brought a winning a mentality. So hence, despite all his off-the-field controversies regarding his money saving schemes, on the field he still produces a fear amongst opponents. Bayam. Safarna Bayam. KAMIKAZE Safarna Bayam! Man of the match goes to Safar, though special credit has to be given to Thina, Suresh USPO, Hariboy Aerocratz, Lavanesh Valencia and Cristiano Barathi. Kamikaze has never been about any one man. We are a Team and will always be so!

21 Mar @ First Toa Payoh Secondary School

Kamikaze headed down to the central side of Singapore for a Sunday date with League newcomers El Calcio. Whilst the results have not been favourable for this young El Calcio side, their fiesty potential had been underscored in several closely fought results. Hence, Kamikaze looked to leave no stone unturned in their preparation for this game. Even the absence of Havey and Yasin didn't look too serious, as the team looked to gear up for their first match in 3 weeks.

As the match went underway, it was El Calcio which looked more threatening of the two. Kamikaze's lack of match practice showed as they looked very nervy in the opening exchanges. If not for the solid centreback pairing of Suresh and Jraj, things could have gotten complicated for the league leaders. However, they managed to get their bearings right and in one swift counter-attacking move Victor received a short pass from Hariboy and threaded a throughball right to the feet of Diego Haresh who made no mistake in giving Kamikaze the lead. It was the perfect moment of redemption for both Victor who was made Captain for the first ever time and Diego who broke his goal drought.

Things were better for Kamikaze after that, but a lack of composure meant that the chances created were not finished. Coupled with a determined El Calcio side, the match remained nervy as the teams headed into the halftime with only a goal separating them.

The second half was no better, as numerous chances were missed and lack of concentration saw El Calcio coming close to getting the equaliser. However, one moment of pure genius by Safar Torres that saw him win the ball, and curl pass the keeper into the backpost changed the entire game. With a 2-0 lead, Kamikaze knew that the game was all but over.

That was the problem though, as the complacency, Kamikaze's biggest and most dangerous opponent, helped El Calcio pull a goal back with their never say die spirit. But that goal was more than enough to wake up the warriors of KKZ and they managed to see the match off till the final whistle.

In all honestly, this was not a good match for Kamikaze as their title ambitions could have been badly dented by the newcomers. However, Champions dont always need to win playing at their best. The true mark of a champion team is one that has the ability to grind out a result even when they are playing badly.

PS: Finally the phrase 'single-handedly saved the match' applies to a man of the match. World class saves from a world class keeper kept the 3 points for Kamikaze. And Akbar is Man of the Match for the first ever time for Kamikaze.

KAMIKAZE FC - Not Arrogant. Just Better.

As the league turns into the final stretch, the warriors of Kamikaze Football Club find themselves perched at the top of the table having scored more goals than anyone and conceded less than anyone. However, the lead is only by a slender 3 points, and that's all that matters.

Any slip-up at this point will only cause the agony of not winning the league to be multiplied by having been so close. Boys, we already have the league in our sights. Now its just a matter of claiming it. However, of all our title rivals, we have by far the hardest run-in, as we have yet to play our second games against D-boyz and Eastboyz, two of our biggest rivals and challengers. According to calculations from pundits, 37 points should be enough to claim the league, and we currently have 22 from 9. This means, we have to atleast win 5 out of our remaining 7 games, without losing to both D-boyz and Eastboyz.

This only leaves us with the option of not making any mistakes against El Calcio, Prisoners, Saaeka and Eagle FC. While their positions in the league table are not desirable, we must never underestimate the bite of an underdog, with we ourselves having been the underdog for the much part of our history. Now that we are the favourites, its time to not let it go up to our head, and instead replicate the football that brought us to this level. Be clinical, Be professional and Play with the Never-say-die attitude till the last second of the match.

Having said all of these, winning the league by playing boring football is never in our list as well. If we were to win the league, and play lousy and unsportmanly soccer while doing so, we'd rather lose the league. Kamikaze- We Win With Style, Respect and Humility.

This is a formal warning from the management. With effect of 12/3/2010 , any player who does not reply to matchday confirmation messages WILL BE DROPPED. The player has 48 hrs to reply his status from the time the message was sent. This move is taken to curb late/no reply so that the management can do its squad selection and formation without hassle. If a player needs extra time or is awaiting confirmation for match , please reply to the message and tell so. A slot will be reserved for you. Any player who does not reply at all and suddenly turn up will also be benched. Any player who dosen turn up for match after confirmation will be assessed thru case by case basis. Also please reply your status only to Seelan , Haresh or Faizal. Listed below is the complete breakdown.

A player will be dropped/benched if :

- He does not reply to the message
- He dosen't turn up after confirmation without a valid reason
- He dosent confirm until last minute and turns up for the match

A player will be reserved a spot if :

-He replies to the sms and asks for more time
-He replies to the sms and confirms

As adults , we should have this basic discipline. If even this is not present , we cannot expect discipline on the pitch as well. 28 Feb @ Woodlands Ring Secondary School

League leaders Kamikaze returned to the Woodland Ring Secondary School pitch for the second consecutive week to take on league newcomers Eagle FC. As these two teams have never played before, KKZ were taking nothing for granted as they looked to grab all 3 points. While they were missing several key players due to injury and work commitments, they still fielded a strong enough squad, with Yasin Scholes set to start in his most preferred position of playing just behind the striker.

The inspired change by the management paid instant dividends as within 2 mins of the kickoff Yasin got onto the scoresheet with a delightful volley after having flicked up the ball at the edge of the box turning past two defenders in the process. 1-0, KKZ.

Within 5 mins Yasin confirmed the management's trust in him as he found the scoresheet again, making no mistake in putting the ball through the keeper's legs after having beaten the opponents' offside trap. At this point Kamikaze looked to be steam-rolling through the opponents, only to have complacency set in.

Eagles FC looked to cash in from the complacency as they threw caution to the wind and attacked in numbers. A routine clearance from a corner was botched and the Eagles FC striker
made no mistake in taking the chance and pulling one back. An injury to keeper Akbar seemed to have worsened the situation for KKZ, however his commitment to the team showcased by continuing to play despite the pain, brought back confidence to the team, and 2-1 was how it ended as the teams headed into the half-time team talk.

Inspired by a half-time team talk that told the players to believe in themselves to cut out their errors and capitalise on their positives, Kamikaze took to the field looking to kill off the tie.

Kill off, they did, as Yasin completed his hat-trick in delightful fashion, having again been in the right place at the right time to make a finish that any striker would be proud off. Before the Eagles had time to recover, they found that Safar Torres was more difficult than any striker they had played against as he jinked past three defenders before dummying the keeper and stroking the ball into an empty net. 4-1, KKZ.

From that point onwards, it was all Kamikaze as they dominated all over the pitch and Safar added one more, a delightful chip, before creating another for Havey Adebayor who scored a goal to complete his good day at the KKZ office.

6-1 was how it ended, with Kamikaze players once again performing with their hearts out. Despite making a few errors here and there, everyone played an inspiring game giving their 100% for the team that they believe in.

The beauty of Kamikaze in this season, is that they are no longer a one-man team, depending on a certain individual's magic to turn a game around. They have showed that they possess match winners all over the pitch and the many different goal scorers of the last 4 games prove testimony to the team work of this incredible team. With that they consolidate their position at the summit of the CFL league leading by 4 points, with a game in hand over their closest rivals. Will this finally be the season where all the good efforts of Kamikaze FC over the years come to fruition? Watch this space!

After the euphoria of the midweek tie, KKZ travelled to another familiar pitch at Woodlands Ring Secondary, to take on another familiar team, the friendly foes, Kawabanga. Kawabanga had notched up impressive displays against fellow title rivals Eastboyz and Galaticos, hence KKZ approached this match with much caution. But once the ball started rolling, the team found its attacking momentum, and could have very nearly opened the scoring within 10 mins. However, bad finishing, and solid defence from Kawabanga meant that Kamikaze failed to get their noses infront by the half-time whistle. However, Kawabanga's failure to make the most of their chances saw the half end 0-0.

While the halftime team talk was tensed, there was a quiet confidence in the team that they will score a goal in the next half, and hence the main objective was to ensure that no goals were to be conceded. That much was achieved, as the defence and keeper were rock solid in the second half, however Kamikaze's failure to be clinical, meant that the clock ticked down with them yet to score a goal. The game looked set to end as a draw, when the soccer gods, as usual had other ideas. Kawabanga failed to clear a corner, and the ball fell to KKZ leftback Navin who miscued a volley. However, a Kawabanga defender failed to get his hands away and touched the ball inside the penalty box giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Up stepped Victor, who made no mistake in scoring the decisive penalty and giving the KKZ faithful their 3 points over Kawabanga for the second time.

With Galaticos losing against Eastboyz, it meant that KKZ have now finally topped the table with 2 games in hands. However, Galaticos, Dboys and even the EastBoyz cannot be written out from the title race so early. With crucial games arriving, KKZ have to be much more clinical than today, if they want to fulfil the prophecy that they have been waiting for. A league championship!

PS: Once again, the team as a whole put a highly spirited performance, and many including Faizal, Hari, Havey, USPO and Spaceship had a commendable game. Special mention must be given to the Keeper Ganesh who rediscovered his form and had a good game. However, the man of the match goes to Victor King who managed to shrug off his terrible form in the past few games, had a solid game as a fullback and eventually scored the matchwinner.

For the second consecutive league match, Kamikaze travelled to the St Wilfrid pitch at St George's Rd. However, the quality of the opposition this time round was much greater. Their opponents, were not only the table-toppers, defending champions and a team that KKZ had not beaten in 4 previous attempts, they were also a team that had not lost for a whopping 20 consecutive games; Galaticos.

Each Kamikaze player came into the match knowing that they had a job to do, and to prove their title credentials. Prove they did, as before Galaticos knew it, they found themselves 2-0 down, thanks to an excellent free-kick goal by Captain of the Day Hari, and a Drogba-like header from a rejuvenated Havey. While Galaticos had their fair amount of chances, with Aziz in goal and an excellent defence passing the ball around effectively, there was no way Kamikaze were gonna concede in the half, and that was how it stayed during half-time.

There were more looks of surprise than jubiliation in the half-time dressing room, as KKZ found themselves in an unexpected position of lead. However, they knew that the mission was not over and they had 45 more minutes to play it over. But merely 10 mins into the second half, the tie was finished as Safar struck the fatal blow into the hearts of the Galaticos, after a splendid play by Havey to release him. While Galaticos, did manage to get a late equaliser, there was to be no revival this time, as Kamikaze were clearly the better team on this day. And with that, KKZ's title bid seemed well set on track after the serious injury inflicted by the Eastboyz a couple of weeks back. Kudos to the new management on getting the first win of their reign. A well-deserved victory.

PS: While every player on the pitch gave their hearts out on this famous day, one player outshone the rest with his pure class and performance. Looking set to be dropped 2 weeks ago, he pulled his career back in KKZ with stunning back to back performances. The Man of the Match this week is none other than Havey!

The team returned to hunting-ground St Wilfrid after a very long absence, with the pain of last week's defeat still firmly in their minds. The return of Suresh USPO, after a very long time, seemed to bring some smiles into the faces of the Kamikaze warriors, but they still knew they had a task at hand.

The first half, saw KKZ totally dominate proceedings with good passing all around the pitch, and great attacking chances created. The team made its dominance count, as Lavanesh Valencia glanced in a header off a Hariboy cross to make the score 1-0. Soon after, El Fazail and Diego Haresh played a mouth-watering series of passes, to replicate Barca, and Fazail applied the finishing touch by curling the ball into the top left hand corner from the edge of the penalty box. Mohawk Vicky got into the act too in his trademark fashion by firing in a fierce shot that gave the keeper no chance, after some really good work by Havey. Havey had been a constant threat the whole half, somewhat redeeming himself after last week's performance.

2nd half, saw a trademark collapse by the team, with the usual kancheongness and ill-discipline kicking in. However, Hari scored a wonder goal and Jayraj scored the rebound after Victor King saw his indifferent form continue by missing a penalty amongst various other chances.
In the end, KKZ nicked the match 5-3.

While they shouldn't have been in the tense situation they got themselves into, the win was satisfying for the team as it saw them climb back into 2nd place with two games in hand. More expected from the team, after a possible 2 week break.

PS: Welcome back USPO! And while it was tight competition between Havey and Dinzo for the man of the match award. Dinzo, playing in his final game before NS wins it, with a flawless performance throughout the match. Havey, however is lauded by the management for his good attitude, and the same intensity is asked for every single match henceforth.

Management Changes

As a result of the tactical errors made in last week's games against Eastboyz and in a bid to bring about a new change in the perspective of the team, Victor King made a shock announcement in midweek. He announced that he would be stepping down as Assistant Manager, and relinquished all decision-making responsibilities. However, his commitment to the Kamikaze spirit will never waver, and he remains a player, whose selection is at the discretion of the Team Management. Soon after, Team Kamikaze announced the appointments of two new Assistant Managers to assist Team Manager Diego Haresh. Seelan Kong, one of the few remaining pioneers and a true lionheart on the pitch has been appointed Assistant Manager in charge of coordinating and operations of the team. El Fazail, the team's midfield maestro and tactical wonderkid has also been appointed Assistant Manager in charge of tactics and player movements. Both of them will share and overlap duties with the main aim of assisting Diego Haresh, in leading this team forward.

As a result of El Fazail's and Seelan Kong's new appointments, there has been a shuffle in the captaincy too. Fazail will now relinquish his vice-captaincy as a result of his promotion, and hence Jayraj Carragher, another pioneer who is now in the form of his life has been appointed Vice-Captain, alongside Hariboy Aerocratz. Together, they will deputise for Anand Achu whenever he is not able to take the pitch.

The management changes do not signify any sort of turmoil in the team, but is rather viewed as a natural step of progressing forward. Victor, in his term, has taken the team as far as he could and has now taken a step back to allow the team to progress even further. To quote Plato, "It doesnt matter who takes the decisions. For if whoever is making the decision, takes a rational decision for the wellbeing of the organisation, then all would have made the right decision after all."

Team Kamikaze, its not about one man. Its about a way of life that revolves around soccer. We will and will always continue to soar!

Bad game for Kamikaze. Lost to the brothers from the East 3-2, after having led 2-1 in the second half. 3 soft goals conceded, not enough chances created, wasteful finishing. In short, KKZ were off-color, and the hungrier, more determined Eastboys showed more spirit. Having said that, KAMIKAZE will bounce back. THERE WILL BE A RESPONSE.. Trivia from the game. Kamikaze's 15-game streak was ended at the same place where they last lost, and where they have now lost 2 consecutive games. But KKZ is not a team that lets jinxes get to its mind.. Mark the editor's words. There will be changes, There will be actions taken.. But the team will stick together in this difficult moment, and its next opponents better watch out for the bite of the wounded tiger, will be fiercer than its roar.

The pain of dropping two points to Galaticos last week was somewhat soothed by the manner in which Kamikaze staged their remarkable comeback. However, the warriors of Kamikaze were still out looking to rectify the errors of last week as they travelled to Sengkang Sec to take on new boys Saaeka FC.

However, things could not have gotten any worse as Saaeka took an unexpected lead, when their acclaimed left-winger pounced on a defensive slip-up and curled a shot which the keeper had no chance of saving.

Nonetheless, Kamikaze slowly managed to settle into the game and find their rhythm. And it was not too long before Thina got a good chance, but nervous finishing saw him miss the chance. He would soon make amends for it though, as Safar's floated free-kick found its way to Mohawk Vicky, whose backheeled pass in turn found its way to Thina who made no mistake this time to equalise for KKZ and send them into halftime at 1 a piece. The youngster Thina has been going from strength to strength and is tipped for great things in this history of KKZ. In reality though, the first half was not convincing enough for KKZ. A better performance was asked for during the half-time team talk.

And it could not have come in better style, as El Fazail beat two players before being tackled outside the penalty box. Victor King, decided to give the free-kick a try as he stepped up and curled a shot in which saw the keeper fumble and give Kamikaze FC the lead. Soon, the floodgates opened, as Dinzo picked up a loose ball that everyone gave up hope on, and swung in a cross that took a huge deflection and ended into the net. Fazail then played a short corner with Safar who ran unchallenged with the ball and blasted a shot into the roof of the net.

With the score at 4-1, KKZ stepped off the gas pedal and played the ball around. However, there was still time for Seelan Kong to get into the scoresheet, and he did so with style as he unleashed a shot from 30 yards out that beat the outstretched keeper's hands. And just when everyone thought the scoreline was to end at 5-1, Vinnie surprised everybody by grabbing the game's last goal after an excellent run.

It was a fitting result to cap Kamikaze's 15th match unbeaten streak dating back to Sept 27 2009. However, Kamikaze face their biggest threat next week when they face the Eastboyz. This editor has an habit of jinxing the team with statistics. But this one time he has thrown the gauntlet down to the boys of Kamikaze. Extend your unbeaten streak to 16 by grinding out a meek draw? Lose your unbeaten streak to the hungry Eastboyz? Or Go on top of the league by winning the game? You decide....

Kamikaze travelled down to Fuchun Secondary school with confidence in high form to face defending champions Galaticos in what was billed as the battle of the two most feared teams in the league. The game lived up to its billing in what was an highly exciting battle between two fiercely determined teams.

Galaticos drew the first blood though scoring twice with barely half an hour having passed in the clock. However, Kamikaze's fighting spirit showed, with them pushing on in numbers, and the efforts paid off when Diego Haresh was fouled inside the box. Victor King stepped up to take the penalty and tucked it neatly into the goal. That was how the half ended with KKZ trailing by one.

The second half saw KKZ piling on the pressure and once again, a fluent attacking movement saw Safar beat two defenders only to be fouled inside the box. Once again, up stepped Victor King to beat the keeper and tie the game at 2 a piece.

But more drama was to come, as a loose ball fell into the legs of Galatico's star player Oswind who unleashed a shot so venomous that it gave the keeper no chance. With less than 7 mins to go, Galaticos looked to have sealed the victory against their title rivals.

But as always, the footballing gods have other ideas, as a determined KKZ unit unleashed a flurry of attacks inside the Galaticos' camp. One such attack saw the ball reach Yasin whose shot was toepoked into the net by Safar. With 3 mins to go, this match was set to have an explosive ending. And it sure did arrive, with KKZ hitting the post 3 times in less than 3 times, but the winning goal proved elusive to them. 3-3 was how it ended.

While many in the league might have been happy with this result which saw both teams drop points, it only meant one thing for those associated with Kamikaze. This year, we are gonna be that much more harder to beat. And mark this editor's words. There is gonna be a new champion in this year's CFL. I hope the KKZ players have the tenacity, to decide the name of the new champions.

New Year Bonanza

Sorry for the late updates. The editor was busy welcoming in the new year.. But whereas many amateur footballers might have been busy partying during the festive period, the warriors of Kamikaze FC were busy indulging in a 3-day soccer marathon. This post will contain details of the first two days.

1 Jan 2010

On the first day of the new year, Kamikaze travelled to old hunting ground St Wilfrid to take on Black Tofu United with a very nostalgic squad that boasted the return of many old stalwarts like Gerard, Nesh, Vinod of Eastboyz Fame and VS Dinesh. Despite missing several players from the current league campaign, this KKZ side had enough in it to beat their opponents comfortably. Yasin opened the scoring by scoring the first goal of 2010 for Kamikaze. Haresh, Navin, Havey all joined in the fun while Jraj grabbed a brace. Final Score: 6-2 to the KKZ warriors.

On this second day, Kamikaze fielded a select side to travel down to Depot Road Street soccer court, to play against former striking sensation Drogba's new team Depot FC to have a friendly street soccer match. It was a wonderful match for the neutrals as a total of 19 goals were scored.
While at a point KKZ were leading by 6-2. complacency and fighting spirit from Depot FC ensured that the match finished 10-9. Credit must be given to soon-to-be-father Shan Annae who scored 4 goals including the match winner. However, stats from this friendly will not be included into the official statboard.

In many ways, the seeds of today's success was planted quite a number of months ago. Oct 7, 2007 to be precise. For it was on that day, it was announced on the blog of the ushering in of a new Era in Kamikaze. Aptly, named the Revival Era, it marked a change in the attitudes, of the team, the players, the management and the nature of the KAMIKAZE soccer itself. While successes didn't immediately follow, the fruits of this year's success bears its roots in the Revival Era initiated back in the cold dark months of 2007.

CFL 2 - Round 2

27 Dec 2009 @ Meridian Junior College~ 1pm

After missing the previous two weeks of league action, Kamikaze returned to the CFL to face friendly foes, Kawabanga who had gotten two respectable draws against Galaticos and Saekaa FC. So there was a sense of nervousness and apprehension in the KKZ camp before the match about the prowess of the famed Kawabanga midfield.

All such apprehension were over, however, by the time the first whistle was blown. KKZ got a flying start when Lavanesh capitalised from some bad positioning by the Kawabanga keeper and stroked the ball into the net to give KKZ an early lead. While KKZ dominated the rest of the first half, they couldn't add on to the lead, and went into halftime at the score reading 1-0.

Failure to convert their chances in the first half, came to bite back at KKZ when a harmless cross by the Kawabanga right winger was turned into the net by Jayraj who was trying to defend. That sapped the morale out of the Kamikazians and errors were made all over the pitch. Save for the good work by the defenders, KKZ could have conceded a lethal second.

But they didn't and they managed to throw all they had at Kawabanga in the last 10 minutes, playing a gungho 4-2-4 formation. It paid dividends as mesmerising winger Barathi, who is slowly rediscovering the form that earned him the number 7 jersey, tormented the Kawabanga defence and earned a penalty after a challenge by the Kawabanga defender. Up stepped, designated spot-kick taker Victor who made no mistake in giving KKZ the lead. And that was how the match ended.

In many respects, the second half performance was deemed unacceptable. At the end of the match, the players were given a roasting by the team management, in the hope that they will reflect on their performance, take the criticism in good nature and buck up for the next tough assignment against league leaders and defending champions Galaticos. It is enough to say, that in the CFL, Galaticos are the only team that Team Kamikaze has not been able to beat yet.

In a match where all of the defenders could have taken plaudits for man of the match, Achu was selected for his calm and composed defending. The reinstated Captain of Kamikaze is playing like a fearless lion and is rediscovering the top form that made him into one of the most dependable defenders in Kamikaze history.

As a parting word, Champions don't always win playing well. But even when they don't play well, the mark of a Champion team is to instill fear in your opponents. The defending Champions instill that kinda fear in their opponents. Have you the KAMIKAZIANS got what it takes to instill that kinda fear??

Kamikaze vs Team JJ Boys (Woodgrove Sec 3pm)

After Kamikaze won their first league game they travelled to Woodgrove sec the following week to play a friendly during their off week where they took on a fit and fighting Team JJ Boys. The match was an evenly poised one, where KKZ took the lead through Thina who finished after a fine run and a sleek one-two passing with VS Dinesh. Complacency and a makeshift defence pairing conspired to see the KKZ team fall back after the hungry opponents scored 2. However, an injured Victor King, who was the victim of a malicious hitjob at Boat Quay the night before, came off the bench to level the scores just before half time, after much good work from Vs Dines and Lavanesh. Kamikaze played much better in the second half and threw all they had at the opponents, but they had to wait till the last minute, when Mohawk Vicky collected a pass from Victor King and took an unstoppable first time shot that went in skimming through the crossbar.

Kamikaze vs Mehh Utd (Eastview Secondary 3pm)

Kamikaze travelled down to the east side to play their second consecutive friendly after a whopping 6 first teamers were out of the squad on international duties. Yet KKZ were able to field a 14 member strong team, and this speaks of volumes about the squad depth acquired by the KKZ team. Quite a while ago, a manager of a 'spicy' rival team opened up his mouth about KKZ's player policy by saying that KKZ takes around players from anywhere and everywhere.

However, this is an apt time to say that the converse is true.. To say in true thalaivar style, "Kanna.. Ithu naangala panathaale saetthe kootam ille.. Thaana Paasatthaale Saentha Kootam!" In any case, a large squad is indeed a headache for the management, however, it is a pleasant headache. Especially if they are able to blow out opponents, the way they did at the east side.

Haresh scored a hat-trick to reach the magical number 21 for the year, Yasin scored 2, Mohawk Vicky built on the previous week's matchwinner by scoring 2 goals in this match and Havey got into the act too, to make the final score an emphatic 8-2 victory.. A good victory, but the boys have to come back to earth now. Next week, they are playing a very tough Kawabanga team in the league. All these good results will come to nought if they fail to take maximum points away from that match. A win is a must, and the attitude and fire they showed for the Dboys game has to be in the hearts of all the KKZ players reading this post. A tough game brings out the tough player in KKZ. All the best boys!!

If there was a need for a ground-breaking advertisement for the organisers of CFL 2, there was no better candidate than the opening match that took place at the Orchid Park Sec between Kamikaze FC and fierce rivals Dboyz. Goals, beautiful passing play, crunching tackles, everything you need for a good game of soccer, the fans got to feast on at the game.

Right from a week before the match, the intent on the KKZ camp was clear. History was to be thrown out of the window. They hadn't beaten this Dboyz and their former affiliates SJ boys in 3 previous encounters. But this KKZ team, was determined to make sure that history was confined to the classroom.

They did not realise though, that they would make their own piece of history. The clock had barely ticked more than a minute, when El Fazail, played an exquisite through ball that released Yasin through the right, who shrugged off the defender's challenge and shot with virtually his first touch of the ball, past the keeper and into the bottom left hand corner. This was officially Kamikaze's fastest ever goal! 1-0 KKZ, game on!

Dboyz, however, showed that they were not to be taken lightly, and tackles flew in from all directions and in virtually their first attack, they were awarded a penalty. It seemed a harsh decision as the outstanding KKZ goalkeeper, seemed to have gotten to the ball first, before the player fell down. Dboyz, however made no mistake in converting the penalty. 1-1 and less than 20 mins had passed.

KKZ needn't have to worry though, as the attacks continued and their efforts were to be rewarded when Safar broke through the entire Dboyz defence, only to felled inside the penalty box. It was a clear penalty, and Victor made no mistake in giving KKZ the lead, even though he had to retake the penalty.

The team went into half-time with a lead against Dboyz for the first ever time. But the team was more than confident of preserving it, because their play in the first half was highly encouraging. The team fought for every ball, passed around effectively and was very unlucky not to be ahead even more.

The second half started in a similar tempo, and not before long, Victor chested a ball from Lavanesh Valencia, and beat off an oncoming defender, before toe-poking the ball past a stranded keeper. 3-1 KKZ

The rout continued, as the industrious Havey, and the magical Safar continued tormenting the Dboyz defence. Safar capped off a spectacular display, when he beat 3 players, and played a neat one-two with Victor, before finishing exquisitely. 4-1 KKZ.

Dboyz, soon grabbed a second goal, off a defensive error. However, the match was in no danger as the presence of Hariboy, Fazail and Seelan in the centre ensured that there was gonna be no meltdown. And 4-2 was how the match ended. A victorious start for KKZ.

This was one match where all 16 players could have been man of the match. Haresh was unlucky not to score, but kept an experienced head and maintained the team's cool in the closing stages. The Da Silva twins, Thina and Navin were scintalliting as wingbacks. Barathi and Lavanesh continued to show that they are the best wingers in town. Safar and Havey showed why they are the Magicians. The keeper Aziz alongside Achu and Jraj, made sure that there were no rude shocks. Hariboy, Fazail and Seelan made sure that the engine in the centre kept ticking along smoothly. Yasin scored a goal that will go down in the record books. Spaceship showed why he is NUS rookie of the year. But somewhat controversially, the Man of the match award was given to the Man who scored two and assisted in one. Victor King. And he would like to dedicate this award to all those who were at Orchid Park sec yesterday, playing for and supporting the team they refer to as the divine wind. KAMIKAZE!

PS: This is just one game. The league is not over. I have said it before, and i will say it again. There is a simple 3 step process to win. Fight for every ball, Pass effectively, and Take your chances! The players are urged to show this same spirit in every game from now on, to achieve the success that they crave! Do not get carried away by this one-off success, but use it as a springboard for future successes.

As KKZ travelled to the Northeast, not only did they try to put back memories of the disappointing draw with Galaticos the week before, they were also looking to wrap up their final friendly of the year with a bang. To say that they didn't would be very harsh.

They came up with a very popular veteran team Ventz Utd. In perspective, Ventz would not forget the name Kamikaze for quite some time. Apart from the result, the play of KKZ was very positive, and one that would have given their other future opponents in the CFL2 something to worry about.

Their first goal took some time to come, but it came in style, from a pre-rehearsed corner routine. As the opponents' were confused, El Fazail shot a superb volley from the edge of the box to put KKZ ahead. Good goalkeeping, and slack finishing saw them not adding to the tally before the break.

The second half saw them attack their opponents ruthlessly, and concentrate on some passing around only when they decided to play around a little. The second goal soon came off another set-piece as Victor received a quick throw-in, jinked pass a defender and cut back for Diego Haresh to score his amazing 18th goal of the season. Well done little master!

Overall it was a good performance by the team, but the standout performer of the day had to be Seelan Kong who put in a Fletcher-like performance, from winning the ball, to passing early to taking shots. And it was a spectacular first-time shot after receiving the ball from Vinnie, that saw him curl the ball into the top left hand corner giving the keeper no chance. 3-0 to KKZ and that was how the game ended. Kamikaze have now wrapped up an impressive postseason-cum-preseason run, finishing 9 games unbeaten.

However, this is nothing to be proud of as 4 of the matches were draws, due to lack of concentration and killer instinct. Such mistakes will be ruthlessly exploited in the league by our much hungry opponents. A simple advice for the Kamikaze players. Follow your destiny. The Kamikaze pilot was known as the divine wind who dared to give up his life for the cause of his nation. The Kamikaze player is known to cover every single blade of grass, even in the dying seconds of the game for the cause of the team, and the team alone. To play for Kamikaze, be a Kamikaze player! No one is bigger than the team, but you can definitely play your part in the team achieving its greatness!

As KKZ revisited Dunearn sec with another well bolstered squad, the aim was not to just win and keep the unbeaten streak going on, but rather to fine tune their play for the upcoming league. There was no better way to do it, than to take on the reigning CFL champions to give the soccer faithful a preview of what was to come in the league. Galaticos however, entered the match with a depleted squad, starting with only 9 men. They looked to be finally losing their unbeaten record against KKZ, but like i say, the soccer gods always have other ideas.

While KKZ enjoyed better possession, the passing was way awry, and tackling looked to be a premium skill only enjoyed by Hariboy and the defenders. Needless to say, the reigning champions made it look too easy, as they put up a good fight with just 9 men. As the half ended, the stalemate was yet to be broken, yet KKZ managed to pull together their act to make things look promising.

Though, Galaticos added one more player after the break, KKZ-ians seemed to have woken up their ideas, and they had a much better second half. They had many promising chances, and one of which fell to Hariboy, who picked up Victor running in through the right flank with a perfectly weighted pass. Victor controlled the ball perfectly, and stroked pass the keeper to open the scoring for KKZ. However, he couldn't open the floodgates, as more chances were wasted, and complacency set in once again.

One of the biggest sins of KKZ players on the field is to assume that the game is finished, even before it is, and on this day, it let Galaticos back into the game. Despite having an injured player, they managed to capitalise on a defensive error and score the equaliser. That was how the game ended. KKZ continued their unbeaten streak. Galaticos maintained theirs against KKZ, and further established their credentials as the team to beat.

KKZ have to understand 3 simple rules of soccer. Pass the ball effectively. Tackle your opponent for the ball if you dont have the ball. And finish your chances. That's all you need to know, to achieve your greatness. This team has huge potential. The only reason they have not achieved it yet, is because of failure to follow the basics. Learn to walk, before you fly. And trust me KKZ, the day you master your basics, you will definitely soar high!

KKZ headed on down to Bukit Batok on their latest preseason friendly with 3 major objectives. Reaching the landmark of 100 goals for this calendar year, gauging the strength of their opponents Prisonerz FC, who will be taking part in the CFL2, and preserving their 6 match unbeaten postseason streak. To say that they reached all 3 objectives rather comfortably would be an understatement.

Right from the first whistle, KKZ attacked non stop, throwing everything they had at their opponents. But it took a while for the first goal to come, as a neat flowing movement saw Diego Haresh release Lavanesh Valencia into the penalty box. The exciting youngster still had some work to do, and he did it well as a fantastic left foot shot beat everyone and ended in the back of the net.

The floodgates opened, as Thina, another exciting youngster, in the defensive mould, surprised everybody as he left 2 defenders for dead with his pace and finished with calmness that would have given his family plenty to be proud of.

As the youngsters, put KKZ on the front foot, it was now up to the seniors to show what they can be capable of. Hariboy, and El Fazail came close to increasing the lead, however it was Jraj who showed how it was to be done, as he let fly a superb shot that gave the keeper no chance, to score the third of the match and Kamikaze's 99th goal of the calendar year. By this point, it was not whether KKZ will score their 100th goal, but more of when and most importantly who will score it.

THE ANSWER COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE SPECTACULAR, POIGNANT AND REPRESENTATIVE OF EVERYTHING THAT KAMIKAZE STANDS FOR.

KKZ was awarded a free-kick on the left, and up stepped Hariboy to take it. Victor, Jraj, Haresh were all in the box. Together with someone who has only scored once for KKZ before, but represents the team spirit as well as anyone can. This person, literally puts his body on the line for team and leads not just by his voice but by his plays for the team. As Hariboy floated in the freekick, upstepped Captain Marvel Neshta, jumping higher than everybody else and heading the ball into the net to score KKZ's 100th goal. The celebration and ecstacy felt by the entire team as the goal was scored, summed up the mood at the moment. The achieving of a landmark.

The half-time talk by Haresh, that he was happy with the scoreline but not the plays further emphasised the team's commitment to quality football and spoke volumes about what KKZ stands for.

The second-half showed a little improvement in the play as there was more passing, but that was enough as KKZ soon made the gulf in quality translate in the scoreline.

Lavanesh got his second and the team's 5th of the match, after a determined play. The youngster was the life of the second half and had gotten himself into good positions throughout the match. With a simple approach to soccer, and a humble demeanour, this boy is expected to rise to stardom in the KKZ-fold. But, the editor's advice to him would be to keep his feet firmly in the ground and just enjoy his soccer.

Haresh soon followed into the scoresheet with his 17th of the year, finishing a throughball from Jraj with excellent composure and skill. He even earned a penalty, that Seelan, another major stalwart, stepped up to take. Seelan's jinx with penalties was finally broken on this eventful day, as he blasted the ball into the net.

By this time, the match had been overwhelmingly one-sided, but there was still time for one last goal. It was to come from a pre-rehearsed short corner routine, as Victor controlled the ball from Haresh and shot into the right hand corner to make it 8-0. And that was how the match ended.

In many ways, even I couldnt have written a better script for the match that unfolded yesterday. But in the same breadth i can say that it was the right decisions taken by the Management and the right attitude shown by all our players that have taken KKZ to the position it is in now. KKZ has been around for more than 5 years now, and it is the countless personal sacrifices put in by all of the players, that is to credit to the achievements of our team. The management, might be harsh at times, but it is with the trust that the players will be professional enough to understand that it is for the best of the team. With that, i leave you guys with the team motto. "NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN THE TEAM! THE TEAM IS STILL BIGGER THAN THE SUM OF ALL ITS STAKEHOLDERS!"

Hi guys.. Time for a quick update on results yet again.

Kamikaze yet again travelled to the north side to take on their opponents Newbie FC in yet another warm-up frenly. There was a sombre mood in the KKZ camp as the match was a tribute to the late Uncle Sivalingam, father of Eastboyz and KKZ maestro, Gerard. Although KKZ had a whopping 17 players turn up for the game, the match started at a slow tempo. The Newbies played an agressive game that seemed to have thrown the KKZ stars on their backfoot. The team did find its footing soon, and created a few good chances. However, it was the opponents who were to take the lead, and they did so in style. Across the run of the play, their midfielder unleashed a shot from more than 20 yards out and it beat the keeper as KKZ suddenly found themselves 1-0 down, against a tenacious opponent.

There was no need to panic though, as KKZ started playing their trademark passing game, stroking the ball around and taking on opponents in dashes of brilliance. The reward was to come when, speedy winger beat 2 players down the byline only to be fouled by a third defender inside the penalty box. The referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot, and Victor wasted no time in neatly tucking the ball into net.

KKZ continued attacking, and they duly took the lead through an attacking move that saw Fazail skip past two players and take a fierce shot. The keeper could only manage to parry it onto the path of Barathi who made no mistake in tapping in for the goal. That was to be KKZ's last goal for the match though, as the match began being littered with awry passes, ill-disciplined soccer, missed sitters and even Newbies scoring a late equaliser.

Although there was a huge turnout for the game, it was a disappointing performance from KKZ. However, they still remained undefeated in the preseason friendlies, and also edged closer to the 100 goal landmark, reaching to 96. Post match conferences called for less individualistic plays and more unity on the field to match the unity that is off it. The man of the match award was awarded to Achu who was one of the better players in a match and kept the team in with many pinpoint tackles and an excellent overall defensive display.

Nash the Man!

Kamikaze FC would like to extend their congratulations to Nash upon scoring the 100th goal for Kamikaze FC season 08/09. The team feels proud that we have Nash on our side and would like to remind him that Kamikaze FC is grateful for his contribution.

Born on 4th May 1987 , Dinesh Kumar a.k.a Nash was born n bred in the East. Passionate about soccer and armed with an array of techniques on how to dismantle a striker , Nash fit into the Centre - back position like a glove and put in an impressive performance everytime he played for Eastboys FC. With such talent and impressive charisma to lead his whole defence line , it wasn't long before Kamikaze FC came knocking on his door and after a lengthy battle with Eastboys FC , managed to secure Nash's Signature in 2006.

Since then , Nash has put in a lot of hard work and stunning displays to earn himself a bagful of M.O.M awards and particularly the trust and confidence of his team-mates. In mid 2007 , Nash was handed the Kamikaze captainship which has has upheld immaculately till today. With a roll of honours to his name, Nash added one more to his record this afternoon , rising perfectly to meet a pinpoint freekick from hariboy to plant home the 100th goal of season 08/09 for Kamikaze FC with a header. Sending the fans and players into ecstacy and boosting their morale for the upcoming league , Nash has yet again done his job and the Kamikaze faithful would have no doubt that they would see Nash leading Kamikaze to their CFL 09/10 season from his Centre-Back position for a long time to come.

Reaching of a Landmark.

Hi guys.. Just a small update on team affairs.. As many of you might already have noticed, Kamikaze is on a total goals tally of 94 for the year 2009. That is very impressive considering we have only played 26 matches the whole year. Can we make it to 100 before the year ends, creating a new record for the team? The answer at this moment looks very much as yes, with 2 full months left. However, with the holidays approaching and with a shortage of pitches, nothing can be taken for granted. The next two games, are probably the best chances the team will have to get to this landmark. Let us all work towards a common goal! And remember, no one is bigger than the team. The team is still bigger than the sum of all its stakeholders. Be confident, not overconfident. Soccer is an emotion in motion.

Hi guys, as many of you might be aware of by now, KKZ is gonna make a new kit for the upcoming CFL 2. This will be KKZ's 3rd official jersey, and the team will literally be making it, as it is a custom-made design that will be unique to the team. So please view the prospective designs and vote for your favourite. If you have any ideas, please share with the management via Facebook correspondence. Just a note from the management, the team intends to use embroidery for the team logo in the jersey and hence a black base might not be really suitable, as the base of the club logo is black as well. But in any case, vote with your personal preference and we will see what we can work out. Attached are the illustration of the prospective kits. Illustration provided by, Leonardo da Haresh.

Friendly at Woodlands Ring Secondary

For the second week in a row, KKZ met with a veteran Malay team that looked formidable and menacing. But KKZ was bolstered by the returns of Havey who had been away to his hometown on official business, Neshta and Barathi who were both out the previous week with injuries and the surprising inclusion of Sudesh who had finally been found after months of tracking.

KKZ started the game convincingly as they stroked the ball all around the pitch and showing lots of off-the-ball movement. However, they were unlucky as against the run of play the opponents were awarded a penalty, after Sudesh brought down their striker inside the penalty box. It looked like a harsh decision, as Sudesh won the ball, however his trailing leg brought the player down, and the ref was given little else to do. The striker coolly converted the penalty, to put his team 1-0 ahead. But the best was yet to be.

KKZ didn't even have to go into panic mode as they continued keeping the possession and creating dozens of chances through both the flanks. It was one such move that saw, Navin in leftback release Haresh who in turn slid in a pass for leftwinger Lavanesh. Lavanesh beat off his marker to calmly finish the ball into the bottom far right corner, to score his first ever goal for KKZ. It was also an early birthday present for the boy, who would be turning 19 the next day. KKZ continued to attack relentlessly in typical fashion, however woeful finishing as well as good keeping kept them tied at 1 apiece. However, it was Havey who would send KKZ into the lead at half time, as he will dispossess the centreback and slot the ball pass the keeper in a brilliant individual goal.

The second half saw a few changes as KKZ continued experimenting before the league starts. It saw Spaceship partnering Victor in midfield and Hariboy and El Fazail were pushed behind to try out their acumen as Centreback and Rightback respectively. Havey was pushed into left midfield, while Barathi was given the forward's role.

The changes were made with the sole purpose of training the team to be versatile and adapt to changes with the upcoming league in mind, and the management is very happy with the positive attitude shown by the players with regards to the positional rotation.

In any case it did not have an adverse effect on the second half, as KKZ showed their strength with 4 more goals, that saw Havey grab his second, with Mohawk Vicky and Barathi getting on the score sheet as well. There was even time for Vinnie scoring in his 4th consecutive match.

In overall, KKZ did well to get a 6-1 victory. However, the management saw that there was still space for improvement with regards to switching of play and playing the ball around. While the next few matches will the addressing of these problems, KKZ would like to praise all the players for their good performance on this day. The Man of the Match was awarded to Havey for his 2 goals and his role in creating the other goals, whilst in reality there were easily 2 or 3 other players from KKZ who could have qualified for the award. Special mention has to be given to Victor, for his versatility and performance throughout the game putting in several good tackles and passes.

The Kamikaze warriors travelled to Kranji sec, after a 1 week deepavali break. The squad was also boosted by the return of 3 stalwarts, Manager Diego Haresh, defensive rock Achu Anand and midfield maestro El Fazail, all sidelined through injuries. Though, their displays in this exciting match made it look like they were never way. However, the real positives in this match was the energetic performance of its young players like Navin, Thina and Vinnie and the exciting debut of young winger Lavanesh.

KKZ adopted a conventional 4-4-2 formation, and attacked from the word go against their older and stronger opponents. Though the opposing team initially had better possession, it was KKZ who gradually enjoyed better opportunities. It was only a matter of time before the deadlock would be broken, and it was the debutant Lavanesh who was at the heart of the move which saw him chase down the opponent, winning possesion of the ball and laying it up to Hariboy, whose pinpoint pass found Haresh. Diego showed that the break did not do any damage to his finishing as he delightfully chipped the keeper with his left leg to open the scoring. 1-0 to KKZ.

Lavanesh continued to impress throughout the half, so did Thina and Navin who were both playing as rightback and leftback respectively, Navin in particular showed more talent and touches in this game than the previous games, and the mgmt was heartened with his progress. However, it was veteran maestro El Fazail who would prove to be a catalyst for the second goal, as his pass found Haresh, who once again, gave a lesson in finishing by unleashing a shot that gave the keeper no chance. To their credit, the opponents did give a few headaches, but Achu who also returned from injury, together with Prem ensured that the half ended 2-0.

The second half saw a few changes, as Victor who played in goal came upfront as Vijay replaced him in goal. The team had adopted a 4-3-1-2 formation, which on paper should have worked out well considering the weakened opponents, and the strength in the KKZ teamsheet. However, failure to understand systems and positional ill-discipline saw KKZ look amateurish and messy. They even conceded a goal, and there was little option but to change back to the more traditional 4-4-2. But not before, 2 assists by Victor that saw Navin grab his first goal, and Vinnie scoring his 3rd in as many games.

KKZ continued to attack relentlessly, and Fazail took a shot that was destined for goal, who was denied by the keeper's fingertips. However, Victor was on hand to tap the goal to round up KKZ's 5-star performance.

In conclusion, the scoreline flattered KKZ who were given a run for their money by the opponents. However, there was no doubting the strength of this KKZ team, who would be a formidable side in the upcoming league if they managed to cancel out their errors and further work on their strengths.

Kamikaze vs DBoys (Marsiling Sec 1pm)

Their final league game, due to the fact that Limelights had already withdrawn was marred by controversy, even before the kickoff. The point of contention was Dboyz, including the former Limelights' captain Vijay, in their starting lineup. They argued that it was fine to do so, because Limelights had already withdrawn from the league. But our point was that the league was still ongoing, and it was not right to field an ineligible player, who had already played for another team. In any case, that did not mar a collective bad display from the KKZ who were 1-0 up, only to lose the match 3-1 through a comedy of errors, and unfocused display. A bad end to the league, that was softened by the fact that they will still end up 3rd, and also the fact that Galaticos will eventually end up winning the league. Kudos to Galaticos!

Kamikaze vs Unknown Fc (Punggol Sec 5pm)

Kkz resumed its friendlies immediately after the league ended. Its first friendly saw it take on its opponents at Punggol sec with an understrength team. However Ganesh Vivace made his first appearance for the KKZ team in goal, and gave a fantastic account of himself. Haravin who made a return to the team also played well, and so did Hariboy. KKZ eventually drawed the game having trailed the opponents in a exciting match.

October 4
Kamikaze vs Generous Utd (Ahmad Ibrahim Sec 3pm)

As the league ended, players' indiscipline returned to. The friendlies were viewed with a lax attitude. However, the management does not want to read too much into this, because it was a tough league campaign, and u guys fought admirably, and thus are allowed a bit of indiscretion. However, as the new campaign draws closer, the team would expect your commitment once again. KKZ started this match with just 7 Spartan warriors. Namely: Nesh, Hariboy, Vinnie, Kutti Ganesh, Mohan who made his debut, Havey who made his return and Victor in goal. But i would not be exaggerating if i said that KKZ gave one of its best performance with that lineup. Whoever said, that having not enough players equated to a loss. This team of committed players passed the ball around like there wasn't a problem at all, and went up 2-0 in just 25 mins. The irony was that as the full team started to appear later in the match, the scoreline became more even. But it was a good workout for the Spartan warriors, as they edged the opponents to become winners.

Kamikaze vs Cepat FC (Commonwealth Sec 3pm)

Kamikaze went behind very early to a highly intimidating malay team who were not just fast and aggresive but also posssessed lethal long range shots. But what impressed the Editor, was the never say die attitude that this Kamikaze team possessed. Even after going down a goal, KKZ played without fear and continued their own passing game. A very evenly poised match in which everybody played beautiful soccer, but special mention had to be given to Kutti Ganesh, Hariboy, Jraj, Yasin (who scored 2) and the most unexpected of them all, Vinnie. Truly gave a man of the match performance with two assists and his second goal in as many games. Has finally showed glimpses of maturing and KKZ hopes that he doesnt get carried away, but instead keeps his head down, and put in more hard work to fulfil his potential. The match ended in a draw but it didn't really matter as the objectives of the friendly, that was to keep the passing play, and play with the team spirit, were achieved. In any case the editor was also impressed that all the players gathered after the match to have dinner together. After quite some time, there was an atmosphere of TOTAL UNITY, and where it was seen that Kamikaze will withstand the tests of time to remain as ONE team. Always remember, no 1 is bigger than the team. Can't emphasise it more.

Housekeeping Announcements

Hi all.. Just a few important announcements. New season of the Casuarina Football League will be commencing on the 25th of October, and KKZ will be looking forward to improve on its 3rd place that it managed to achieve in the inaugural season. Meanwhile, on plans to take the team forward, we are looking to blood teenagers and youngsters into the team. So if you guys know of any talented and committed young field soccer players who are willing to commit to the KKZ ethos of soccer, please let Haresh and Victor know.

On another note, Nathaniel Bala has been released from Team Kamikaze to allow him to concentrate on his other endeavours. We thank him for his invaluable contributions in helping make us a stronger and more united team, and wish him all the best for his future footballing endeavours.

More announcements regarding team management will be made in the coming days, so watch this space. And always remember, NO player is bigger than the team. Kamikaze it is not just a team, it is A Way of Life!

League match - Round 10

In the second week in a row, KKZ played another affiliate team. But faced a huge crisis minutes before kickoff. In an official league match, KKZ faced the threat of having only 9 outfield players and no keeper. What makes this fiasco even more unacceptable is that just 24 hours before kickoff KKZ had 16 players confirmed for the game, leading to the management's decision to not call further players. As such, players who failed to turn up for the match, after having confirmed, is required to explain to the management. Failure to do so, within 3 days will lead to undesired consequences.

But this is KKZ and the goodwill we have earned amongst the soccer gods, and fellow soccer players will ensure that we will somehow escape from every situation. In this instance, we had 3 mystery players who were virtually last min call-ups. Little is known about their identity except their strange sounding names. They are, our former keeper HariBhai's cousin brother, HairyBoy, our former captain Neshta's nicer looking cousin Machan, and a third player whom no1 knew, Kabiismyname ButidontplaylikeKabi. With such weird sounding names, KKZ was apprehensive, but had no choice to trust in their skills. And boy did they not disappoint.

The game began at an even pace, but as it progressed it was clear that KKZ had the better of chances. Safar and Haresh saw a few shots miss by a whisker, as it was proving to be a frustrating day. However, the deadlock was soon to be broken, as another swift counter-attacking move saw Safar release Mohawk, who tumbled as he challenged the keeper, but made sure he connected with the ball acrobatically first. The Kawabanga defender tried to keep the ball out, but failed as the ball rolled in. KKZ up by a goal.

Soon, it was all KKZ as attacks after attacks followed. A training ground corner routine saw Jraj head the ball towards the path of Haresh, whose overhead kick was heel-flicked into goal by Magic Safar. KKZ up by two goals.

Whilst Kawanbanga's striker did have good attempts before the half finished, it was to remain 2-0 at halftime.

The second half saw KKZ being hit by injuries and fatigue. But that was no excuse, as a fully pumped up Kawabanga threw everything they had at them. And they were soon to reap rewards, as a harmless cross missed everybody except Vijay from Kawabanga who tapped it in. From then on it was pure nerves for KKZ who needed to win, to secure the 3rd place in the league. Kawabanga though had the better of the chances and were pushing on till the final whistle. But in virtually the last attack of the game, Hariboy released Bala, who excellently laid it up to Victor from the halfway line. Victor began his run, and unleashed a shot from just outside the penalty box, and saw it hit the crossbar. However Safar, pounced onto the looseball, and took a shot which the keeper parried onto the path of Victor. Victor made no mistake this time, as he scored Kamikaze's third goal of the match with the final kick, and ensured that KKZ lock up 3rd place in the league.

Yes ppl, Fans and Faithful supporters of Team Kamikaze. With the victory at Yio Chu Kang Sec, Team Kamikaze has ensured that it finished the league in third place. Whilst the management are disappointed that, the team cannot challenge for the top two spots, even with 2 games remaining, we will take heart at this achievement, and promise to improve on it. More importantly, we are honoured to have finally won a podium position after nearly 3 yrs of playing in a league. And we'd like to thank all those who have helped us in this journey.

League match - Round 9

KKZ 2 EastBoyz FC 2 (1-1)

In what was sure to be an exciting return clash between these two teams, one thing was definite. It was definitely going to be a much more friendlier outing this time. And sure it was, that despite the crunching tackles from both sides, that has become a feature of their matches, both sides kept their cool which reaffirmed the affiliation that both sides have.

Kamikaze had an unusually large squad, that saw new keeper Sasi make his debut in joining the growing list of keepers that Kamikaze has, but seems unable to hold on. And it was going to be a difficult day for him, as Eastboyz were in no mood to waste time. Shots were taken at regular intervals, and there was good passing movement from the opponents. But Kamikaze, throughout this league has learned a new skill to add to their arsenal, and this to absorb pressure and make the counter attacks count. And that was how they broke the deadlock, as Haravin will release Magic Safar early after breaking up a Eastboyz attack, and Safar will weave past 2 defenders before cooly sliding the ball into the net. KKZ up by a goal!

But if past matches were an indication, games between these 2 are anything but a smooth ride. A long hopeful shot, was mishandled by Sasi for a corner. The resulting corner, saw Francis jump high above everyone and head the ball spectacularly into the net. The score was levelled, and that was how they headed into half-time.

When the teams came back after half-time, it was a completely different scenario. The Eastboyz were all over KKZ, and Sasi atoned for his earlier mistake by making several close saves, to keep the match levelled. However, try as he might, even he was unable to stop the inevitable when Jraj was easily dispossessed by the Eastboyz' striker who made no mistake in chipping the keeper. KKZ now trailed by a goal.

However, that seemed to wake them up. There was more purpose in passing, and more attacks began to be made. However, Sasi still pulled a string of fine saves to keep KKZ in the match, and his efforts were rewarded when Safar released Haresh through the middle. There was still work to be done, as Haresh had a defender running behind him, and the Eastboyz' keeper closing him down, but KKZ's top striker made no mistake in curling a shot in from just outside the penalty box to draw KKZ level.

And that was how the match ended. A fair result for KKZ, but a disappointing one for Eastboyz, as they were clearly the better side on the day. Their defence, in particular Neshta, Francis and Thomas were virtual rocks who repelled anything KKZ threw at them, and made life hell for KKZ's forwards.

However, KKZ were still in pole position for reaching their objective of 3rd place in the league, and if results go their way in the next week, they would achieve it. By KKZ's standards 3rd is not wad we should be aiming for. But this is the first time, we have played as a real united team in a league, and the efforts are showing. By the time the next league comes, we will be an even better team. But we will always be a TEAM.

The Editor is back from his hiatus. I know it gets tiring for u all, to see the blog empty for long periods of time, but yes the editor gets tired once in a while too.. But he is back now, and hopefully stays a while longer. I'm not gonna write epics now.. Just a short writeup on the matches played since the last update. For those who have been unaware, Kamikaze has taken part and is in the midst of a league campaign. The team is currently in third place in the 7-man league.

June 14
Kamikaze vs Amzad United (Queensway Sec @ Home of the King)

With Just one more week to go before the league started with a Bang, the team warmed up with a friendly against Amzad's rangers. And boy was Kamikaze sniped without having a proven keeper. Vinnie, Ghazali, Faizal, Dinzo and Haresh all got on to the scoreline yet KKZ drew the match 5-5.

June 21
Kamikaze vs Casanova XI (Macpherson Sec 3pm)

With the shock of the draw suffered the previous week still in the minds of the KKZ warriors, they travelled to Macpherson to take on the Casanovas. However, slack refereeing, a silly tackle to concede a penalty and strikers' inability to finish all conspired in KKZ starting the league in the negative.

June 28
Limelights vs Kamikaze (Beatty Sec 3pm)

Having suffered two consecutive bad results KKZ were in no mood to let their slump continue. They approached the Limelights game with a intensity and determination never seen before. Despite off-form Striker Victor (previously known as Nayee) missing TWO penalties, and Barati red-carded early in the second half and Ghazali injured early in the second half, KKZ stood firm to win the match and record their first points of the league.

July 5
Galaticos vs Kamikaze (Fuchun Sec 3pm)
Buoyed by their first win the previous week, KKZ attempted to go for the second win, and dominated this match from the first whistle. Fluent passing and excellent taking of chances saw the team grabbing a well-deserved 2-0 lead. But distracting tactics and immature play from the opponents, led to KKZ immaturely losing their cool. Credit has to be given to Galaticans' determination as they fought back to draw the game.

July 19
Kamikaze vs Kawabanga (Si Ling Sec 3pm)
In one of the many epic clashes that the team will face in the course of this league, this matchup had the most anticipation. Both sides were fired up for the match. And in all honesty for most parts of the match, it was evenly poised. But a fantastic early goal from Hari, the class players in KKZ, and the discipline and team unity that the team had built up ensured that KKZ go on to win comprehensively.

July 26
D-boyz vs Kamikaze (Bishan Park Sec 3pm)
Despite taking on the league leaders at that point, the KKZ boys were overwhelmingly confident of pulling off a victory. However, they were duly humbled as Dboyz overwhelmed them. Though KKZ missed many key players, no excuses could be given for this defeat. D-boyz were simply better and more organised on this day, than the men from KKZ.

Amzad United vs Kamikaze (Commonwealth Sec 3pm)
To recover from the stresses of the competitive league and to gain some morale boost, KKZ took on Amzad's rangers on another friendly to redress the earlier shock result. What was clear was that KKZ were clearly the better team, as they went into the half-time with a commanding lead. However, what was clearer was the the team's tendency to be complacent and the troubles they got into because of that attitude. In the end, they eventually won, but could have done without the trouble.

August 9
Kamikaze vs Eastboyz (Marsiling Sec 1pm)
In another epic clash, Kamikaze took on the perennial rivals yet friends at Marsiling sec in a must-win match for both teams to revive their league campaigns. The quality available in the KKZ camp showed as they took a early lead. Yet the intensity of this match ensured that the game stayed tight with both teams having various chances to kill off the game. An upset looked to be on the cards, as the Eastboyz equalised. Yet, Kamikaze's quality in depth showed as they ran out eventual winners in what was to be marred by ugly scenes as tempers frayed.

August 16
Galaticos vs Kamikaze (Ahmad Ibrahim Sec 3pm)
In a repeat clash of the previous hot-tempered clash, both teams had largely mellowed down. Yet good soccer was on display here, as both teams had many chances to win the game including numerous shots that crashed against the bar. In the end, failure to take their chances haunted Kamikaze more, as the Galaticans' scored in virtually the last kick of the match. Whilst the KKZ warriors were gutted by the result, they were heartened by their display of beautiful football. KKZ would also acknowledge that the defeat also signalled the end of their tital aspirations, and now the main goal would be to secure third place at all costs. It also wishes Galacticos all the best in their remaining matches.

August 23
Casanova XI vs Kamikaze (Canberra Sec 5pm)
Canberra Sec has always been a happy hunting ground for Kamikaze. And in a match which was billed as a straight shootout for 3rd place, the psychological boost provided by the venue was definitely welcomed. However in reality, it was not really needed, as KKZ had improved by leaps and bounds since the first time these two teams met. While the scorelines do not really reflect that, the beautiful brand of soccer that the team had produced stands testament to the ethos of these team. Despite having 1 or 2 scares in the match, they easily ran out winners and further cemented their case for the 3rd spot.

SOCCER FUNDAMENTALS

General

Keep high concentration at all times.
Stay fit - endurance and strength.
Be positive and play your best.
Have realistic expectations of teammates.
Communicate on the field (don't scream or blame each other).
Have the ability to combine with players.
Show creativity and vision.
Play the way you're facing (play simple).

Defensively

Be aware at all times.
Play smart and anticipate.
Always get behind the ball on defense.
Stay on the goal side when defending.
When challenged, make the play predictable so your teammate can anticipate the next pass or play.
To make a player commit, take a quick step forward and quickly back off using your body to block the run. Not obstructing the player but anticipating the play.
When faced with a two on one: buy time until help arrives (concede space a bit of space, don't dive in); take away the pass and force the ball in one direction.
Always recover centrally (toward the penalty spot).
Always find a free player and mark-up.

Offensively

Keep it simple.
Have vision of the entire field.
Play the ball back when options are limited or dangerous.
Always look around before collecting a pass.
Have a first time pass in mind before collecting the ball.
Be calm with the ball.
Always be in position to support teammates.
Give options to player with the ball (check in and check out asking for the ball).
Keep your elbows up and use your body to protect and shield the ball.
Take on players in offensive third of the field.
Dribble toward defender until he leaves his mark then pass or beat him.

Friendly at Fuhua Secondary

Yung Ho Rangers 2 - KKZ 4 (1-3)

This was the second week in a row where KKZ had met a previous opponent. But the last time these two teams met, just 7 weeks ago, the scoreline was an emphatic 10-0 to KKZ over their opponents who then were fondly named AC Mungent Lan. This time however, their opponents had a much more dignified name, and a determined attitude to the game to right their humiliation.

To say they had chosen the wrong time, would be an understatement. KKZ had an entire full team plus 5 substitutes in the locker room of Fuhua Sec by 2 pm, with 2 more on the way. The team talk lasted a full half an hour, with topics ranging from commitment, to tactics to individual play and team plays being discussed in detail by Haresh and the other members of the senior management.

And the first 10 mins of the match showed that it worked wonders. KKZ started with Manjo in goal, to replace HariBhai who had volleyball commitments. Neshta returned for his last match till, the league ends, to partner Gabriel Achu Tan and ADF Jraj in Defence. AcidTongue Ganesh made a long awaited return to the KKZ fold as he and Thina played as wingbacks. Seelan partnered HariBoy in the DM positions while Haresh and Yasin were the AMs. Barati was given the responsibility of the lone forward as his loving parents watched on the magic their son was about to unfold.

The first 10 mins of the match, in Gabriel's words were the most classic KKZ had ever played. The team moved forward and defended as one. Balls were won all over the pitch, and the team passed the ball around so confidently, that the margin of victory was expected to be even bigger than the previous encounter. However, the opponents were no easy meat this time around, and they shocked the entire Fuhua pitch into silence as a hopeful cross was deflected into the net by Jraj to give Yung Ho the lead.

But then again, this was a new-look KKZ. One that knows not to kancheong after conceding. One that is beginning to believe that if you work on your possession, the goals will come. And that was how the goals came. A good passing movement saw Barati being released on the right with his adoring parents watching. And boy didn't he disappoint, as he weaved pass two players and cut the ball back to Haresh who made no mistake as he pushed the ball past a defender and swivelled a shot into the net to gain the equaliser. With the confidence gained, KKZ began sweeping forward as another flowing move saw Haresh latch on to a ball, beat a defender and pass to Barati, who squared the ball to Dinzonesh who took a ferocious shot. The keeper could only manage to parry it away to Barati who made no mistake as his shot hit the roof of the net, 2-1 to KKZ. There was to be no reprieve for Yung Ho, who to their credit did string together a few good passes and made a few good tackles. One such interception of Hari's attempted through-ball, however found its way to Haresh's feet who made no mistake once again, as he gave KKZ a deserved 3-1 lead.

That led the way to substitutions, and Bala who had already replaced Seelan, and who was having a splendid half, and Dinzonesh who earlier replaced the injured Ganesh was joined by EL Fazail, Ghazali, Vinnie and Nayee. The remainder of the half, saw KKZ fully grip the game with splendid passing and switching of play, but unlucky finishing saw it not adding on to the lead.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Yung Ho team, take on a KKZ team that is still unable to shake off its second half curse. Players were out of position all over the field, passing movements in the first half had led way to longballs in search of the killer pass, and the defence was shaky and non-coordinated. Except for the calm presence of Prem who had come in for Achu, the defence found itself disorganised. One such moment, found Jraj completely off-guard, and Yung Ho capitalised to reduce the lead to 3-2.

However, that was the only realistic chance they had in the second half, and KKZ mounted chance after chance and spurned a few more, with slackness in the last third. If Yung Ho, were harboring any hopes of a comeback, they were put to rest when El Fazail, showed his importance yet again, by finishing off a smart corner by Bala, to restore the two goal lead. And that was how the game ended, 4-2 to KKZ.

Statistically, this game was a disaster, considering that the opponents were beaten 10-0 before with a weaker squad. However in the overall scheme of things, the mgmt saw this match as a success. The win was recorded, objectives set before the game were achieved with players playing with a purpose, and the team harmony and morale was at a new high. Special credit must once again be given to the wingbacks Thina and Dinzonesh for an effective performance and also to Ghaz who made true of his promise to be a different player. On the whole it was a game to remember for the KKZ faithful. KKZ can now look forward to a new dawn, but will this be yet another false dawn? Only the footballing gods can tell..

Friendly at Siglap Secondary

The last time, these two teams met in 2007 off the pitch controversy and fiery tempers overshadowed the footballing brilliance and the score ended 3-0 to KKZ in an otherwise evenly placed match. This time however, football overshadowed everything else, but the fiery atmosphere still prevailed. Kamikaze managed to head down to Siglap sec with a surprising 14-man squad despite not having the Eastboyz in their roster.

HariBhai of Tekka Volleyball Fc made only his second ever appearance for KKZ, starting in goal. He was protected by a 3-man defence comprising of former Captain Gabriel Achu Tan, ADF Jraj and Sgt Suresh Boyee. The 2 DMs were Bala and HariBoy with Barathi being played in a more defensive flying wingback role with Dinzonesh who himself was making his 1st appearance in KKZ colours. Haresh and Mandai Kong were the attacking mids supporting lone striker El Fazail. Nayee, newcomer Navin and Thina who impressed in his first game were all on the subs bench. However due to another case of bastarding by the organisers, the match wif Eastboyz took a drastic change as there was no referee. Upstepped Nayee to referee the match. One way he could protect himself was refereeing duties that he would share with 4 others.

The game itself started in a high tempo with KKZ enjoying fluid passing and good possession. The defence was rock solid and managed to thwart the dangers posed by the Eastboyz attackers Sayed and Big Viki. Credit had to be given to the wingbacks and the DMs who constantly dropped back to protect the excellent defence. KKZ made their possession count when El Fazail managed to thread an excellent throughball to find Haresh who slipped past the Eastboyz' backline and coolly finished to give the KKZ the lead. However the lead did not give KKZ the momentum they would have wanted. Substitutes Nayee and Navin who played in attack could not make the possession count by adding the lead, instead final balls were wasted. This gave Eastboyz a chance to come back in the game and they did so however, unexpectedly. Kabi played an aimless longball looking to find Big Viki, however he miscued the ball and it ended up swerving into the net past HariBhai who otherwise was having an excellent game. Just when it looked like the half was gonna end in a stalemate, KKZ was given an unexpected freekick when Thomas was adjudged harshly by 2nd referee Vikram, to have pushed Barathi. Hariboy stepped up confidently to take the kick, and his confidence translated into an excellently taken freekick to send KKZ into the half with a slender 2-1 lead.

The second half began with much more bloodlust, as more crunching tackles being flown in by both sides, that saw El Fazail, Kabi, Thina, Nayee, Nesh, Haresh all getting injured at various points during the match. However, credit must be given to the wingbacks and the 3-man defenders of KKZ. Their tireless running and calm composed defending helped KKZ withstand the attacking onslaught of the Eastboyz, that was further aided by the lack of understanding in the centre midfield. KKZ showed glimpses of brilliance, but it was Eastboyz who drew level when Nayee stupidly handled a freekick, resulting in a penalty that was calmly converted by Gerard. Yet again, Haribhai who was still having an excellent game, had to concede a harsh goal. The rest of the game saw KKZ dominate possession, while Eastboyz had more clearcut chances. Nayee thought, he had scored the winner when he unexpectedly aided the ball into the net with his head, but his joy was to be shortlived as Nesh pulled the Eastboyz level with a well-taken shot from a corner.

The previous encounter between these two teams saw football take a backseat with controversy overshadowing. This time however, the score ended 3 apiece, a-la Barca vs Man Utd '98, and just like then, football ruled the day. Both sides showed good passing movements and a commitment to attacking football. It was a even match, which the scoreline rightly reflected.

However, on the KKZ side improvements are still needed. Attackers, need to be more clinical, and need to finish even the half chances. The midfield needs to be more in sync and find its rhythm to function as one. But the highlights of the day for KKZ were its 3 defenders, and its tireless wingbacks. Special credit must be given to Thina and Dinzonesh, both of whom are new players, but showed tremendous potential. KKZ faithful also hopes that outstanding keeper HariBhai can be signed on a long-term deal, after his fantastic performance saving 3 1-on-1 shots.

In conclusion, the match reaffirmed the potential of KKZ to adapt to changes and personnel loss. It also reiterated, that while KKZ is best while attacking, defending is a duty and the defending ethos must be translated in the hearts of every KKZ player, and not just the defence.

KKZ bounced back from the heavy loss at the hands of Jurong Aces at their last game. Arriving early at the pitch, this time around the opponents were late and only had 8 men to start. KKZ loaned Prem and Suresh to RnF to make it an almost even game to start. KKZ's league top scorer Vijay stood in goal, with the back 4 comprising of the returning partnership of Cannavarro and Nesta, (Nesh and Jeyraj) joined by Achu and Bala at left and right full backs. Faizal took the right flank with Haresh his left compatriot. Centre comprised of Hariboy, Yassin and Seelan with Nayee the lone forward.

KKZ pressed early and were rewarded with a sloppy mistake by RnF when Centre back Suresh headed back to the keeper and the keeper mishandled it to roll into the net for an opener. KKZ continued to press and Haresh then doubled the lead with a brilliant outer-boot shot into the top corner from outside the box. Taking the 2-nil lead, KKZ went onto cruise mode and after the removal of Seelan, cracks started to appear. The absence of a CDM, led to a bombardment of the back 4 right through the centre. Jeyraj was put under pressure from a ball which went right through the centre midfield and the RnF forward took full advantage to half the scoreline.

It then turned into a game of 'ping-pong' with each teams counter attacking each other and a question of whose defence was better was the difference maker to the scoreline. RnF budged when Faizal burst through to set Nayee with an open net which Nayee "rather cheekily" put it in.

Just when the 2 goal lead was restored, Prem went right through the centre of the midfield to blast in an excellent shot which left Vijay with no chance. Just before the break, Mohawk Vicky took an excellent volley which was deflected into the net by RnF's defender. 4-2 (HT)

The second half started brightly with RnF really turning in the screw on KKZ's defence. Testing them on several occasions, KKZ defence managed to hold on and KKZ scored the 5th goal after Hariboy lashed in a truly unstoppable shot after some neat play between Suresh(back to KKZ), Faizal and Mohawk. Sadly, Haresh had to be sent to the hospital due to a nasty clash which left him badly gashed which required immediate medical attention.

With the absence of Haresh, KKZ took the foot off the gas and RnF took full advantage. Knocking in two goals within the space of 7 minutes, they cut the lead from 5-2, to a meagre 5-4. When it seemed that another dramatic collapse was on the way, Faizal stepped into take the limelight by combining once more with Suresh and Moahwk Vicky before finishing in style from a tight angle. 6-4 Kamikaze.

Returning to the team for his first game for the season, Faizal proved once more that he is indeed one of the key playmakers for KKZ. Assisting 2 goals before blasting in KKZ's final goal, his play was exceptional. Hmmm, only if he regularly turned up for matches...Haha...Kudos Faizal!

A rather sloppy performance by the KKZ was exposed by Jurong Aces's well-taken chances. Gerard was the pivotal force at the centre of the park together with Hariboy and his trademark freekick which grabbed KKZ's consolation was an example to his sharpness for the KKZ outfits. And this was despite him not featuring a game for the team since the start of the year. Kudos to Gerard!

After netting 9 goals in the previous game, Team KKZ were in no different mood as they headed to the West Coast, with just 11 men. KKZ started the game with 10 men, with latecomer Vinnie still on the way. With Nayee starting in goal, the centre back pairing of Prem and Jeyraj were joined with Ghazali and Barathi in the left and right back positions respectively. Right Winger Haresh was joined by Sriram on the opposite flank with the returning Ismail partnering Bala in the centre of the park. The lone striker forward was the returning KKZ legend Yassin who was in a hungry mood.

Hungry Yassin didn't take long to get in the scoresheet though. He took his opening goal with much ease as he broke the deadlock within 6 minutes at the start. He then turned provider for the second goal when he released Sriram on the right flank when Sriram once again wowed everyone with a delightful chip into the goal when almost everyone expected a cross from the brilliant Brahmin from that angle. Ever since that goal, KKZ never looked back. It took them some time to get the 3rd goal though. Haresh then set up Bala as he laid off a ball only for the German to hit the bar after he unleashed a piledriver from outside the penalty box. Haresh then made a change to the scoreline for his first of the year after once again Yassin set up the goal. Vinnie then came in to set up the 4th goal and Haresh's Second. The second was also the 2nd from his left leg which was a glorious chip with his left boot into the top corner. Into the stoppage time of the 1st half, Ghazali earned a penalty and converted it to bring the scoreline to 5 at the break.

The second half didn't flow as freely at the start. AC Mungent Lan were resorting to dirty tactics just to prevent KKZ from scoring their 6th. The frustration was obvious as KKZ earned its first yellow card of the year through Jeyraj after Jeyraj threw the ball at the Goh Toh Soh (Mungent Gatusso) angrily conceding a dangerous freekick in the penalty box. The resulting freekick was blasted over by, on loan striker Peter Lee Crouch. It took some time to find their rhythm but after Sriram jinked past 2 defenders and put a cross in, Ismail made no mistake to bring the tally to 6.

AC Mungent Lan started to push their line high up the centre line which seemed to put off Nayee who was the team's forward. Nayee had some woeful misses which he will want to forget but KKZ soon found their 7th through Barathi who made a deep run and finishing coolly past the advancing keeper. KKZ continued playing to the offside trap although they were caught many a times offside. Ismail then sprayed a weighted ball, but Haresh cleverly stayed in an offside position but left the ball for Bala who made the run deep from the KKZ half, and raced clear for a one on one. Interestingly Ghazali raced forward and started to call for Bala to play the ball. He by wanting to get his 2nd actually got onto Bala's nerves after screaming for the ball despite being in an offside position. Fortunately Bala kept his calm and slotted the ball calmly to the bottom left of the goal with a veteran's cool nerves. 8-0 Kamikaze. The excellent Barathi then got his second in some style after he rounded the keeper and nestled the ball into the net. The score was turned to double digits after Nayee beat the keeper and unselfishly cut the ball back for Ghazali's second and KKZ's 10th. Nayee, epitomised the true spirit of KKZ of playing with each other rather than for personal glory, and he couldn't have done it better. KKZ then came close to conceding and losing the clean sheet but Bala blocked with a stud showing challenge which he had to get absolutely right, and he did. Ismail then cleared the danger and KKZ recorded one of the biggest margin victory in history after thumping in 10 goals and maintaining a clean sheet.

Confidently but not overconfidently, Yassin steals the limelight from the other glorious 10 and rightfully so. The KKZ legend returned in style in 2009, with netting the opener and setting up a further 2 in the first half, with him being a constant menace in the opponents half. He later then got "moved" to centre back where he did excellently well again. Kudos to Yassin!

After a cock-up in the scheduling of the original pitch, Yio Chu Kang Secondary, Kamikaze were fortunate to be able to shift to the neighbouring 9-a-side Junior Field for a 9-a-side game against No Namat FC. It seems that everytime Raja starrs in goal for KKZ, we end up playing a 9-a-side game. Hmmmm....

The game started brightly after Jeyraj knocked in 3 goals in 15 minutes to celebrate his bachelor's night. KKZ took a 3-nil lead only to defend disastrously and miss chances to hand No Namat FC a chance to get back into the game, as the half ended 3-2.

With the tie at 3-2, at half time, the 'crowd' inspired Barathi returned a different player to blaze the pitch. Sriram threaded a beautiful through pass through the cramped pitch which found Nayee, sorry Mohawk Nayee, complete with a new hairdo to finish the chance with a deft chip pass the hapless keeper.

Barathi, at right back, determined to get on the score sheet orchestrated a beautiful overlap movement with Bala. After neat one-two with the German, Barathi found the back of the net to bring the score to 5-2.

Haresh, playing at centre back, confidently pushed up his line and confidently conceded one to bring the score to a closer 5-3. Mohawk Vicky (original) was unlucky on numerous occasions to put the score beyond doubt but he struck the post once and narrowly wide in the others. Kalai then tried his luck only for the bar to deny him.

Frustrated, Kalai and Bala then combined with much effect, as after a flowing movement down the left, saw Kalai lay the ball off to Ballack, sorry, Bala and he made no mistake as he sidefooted the ball into the inner post and broke his 'annual goal' duck as he made 2 goals in 2 games. Score 6-3.

Another Schoolboy mistake later, No Namats found their rhythm to bring the score to 6-4. As they were settling down into the game, KKZ countered to let Barathi complete his hat-trick within the space of 5 minutes. With the score at 8-4, no one wanted to settle the tie, but rather get onto the scoresheet of the high-scoring game.

In the final few minutes of the game, KKZ got a freekick on the edge of the box, which Mohawk Vicky (Original) wrestled the greedy Bala over to convert the freekick, and boy did he take the chance. Mohawk frustrated over his luck and his numerous close chances, powerfully blasted the ball into the roof of the net which left everyone gasp in astonishment.
9-4 and thats how it ended.

Barathi could have stolen the limelight for the second week in a row with another wonderful performance which was reflected in his hat-trick, but the limelight belonged to the true hat-trick hero of the day, Jeyraj.
Jeyraj celebrated his bachelor's night with a hat-trick in the space of the first 15 minutes of the game with three well-taken goals which left the keeper with no chance. After a solid game as centre-back, Jeyraj then moved between the posts and kept a clean sheet in the last 10 minutes of the game. And now for the honeymoon....

KKZ 4 Getz United 3 (2-0)

Finally KKZ played their first official game of the year. Close to 4 months into the year without a game, a team of 11 players were formed in the space of 4 hours, after opponents of Getz United pulled out 5 hours into the game. Up stood Kamikaze for the challenge and for their first game of the year.

After frantically searching for players to form a team, KKZ arrived and started with 9 men on the Canberra pitch due to the late arrivals of Habib and Vinnie, also courtesy of the late notice. This game also marked the first competitive start in months, handed out to KKZ Veteran Achu who starred in the left back position. The other 3 of the starting back four comprised of Prem and Bala in the centre with Fellow Colonial Cousin Barathi starting parallel Achu at right back. Local Sembawang hero Sriram started in centre mid with Vijay and Mohawk taking the left and right flanks respectively. Jeyraj started in the lone striker position (his other FAAVouriTE position) with Nayee in goal.

KKZ started well, though with 9 men threatened the Getz UTD centre backs who were obviously having problems with the fast paced attacks of KKZ. The keeper was tested and clearly didn't put away KKZ's attackers as he fumbled at the ball on more than one occasion. At the back, despite a lengthy lay-off, the defence couldn't have looked more comforatble as they dealt with Getz Attacks rather audaciously, stroking the ball inside their own 40 yards. Achu, Bala and Barathi were quick to close down any attacks, while Prem provided the assurance at the sweeper position.

Saab as Sub! Habib came on at 10 mins to bring the team to 10 men, and the score to 1-nil, yes, Habib scored with his 4th touch of the game with much predatory instinct as he always had.
(1-0 Habib* 15 minute) Getz were shocked at the introduction and started to panic over the imbalance of the player advantage and the score. Kamikaze gained in confidence and started to press the Getz defence. Achu started to drift upwards, and was unlucky not to get his goal. They were soon rewarded via an unlikely saviour. Whatever Habib could do, Vinnie 'upped' the standards. After coming on in 18 minutes, Vinnie was the first to latch onto a rebound after Vijay struck a venomous shot which the Getz keeper could only parry. Vinnie tapped the ball into the empty net with his 1st touch of the game with much glee and KKZ were 2-nil up and so the score remained till the break. (2-0 Vinnie *20th minute)

At the break, a few shuffles were made, which saw Vinnie being pushed back to the right back position with the back 4 relatively unchanged, with Prem,Jeyraj and Achu holding the back line. Bala and Sriram filled the centre, with Nayee doing a direct swap with Vijay for the left midfielder position. Right flanks remained in the grasp of the glowing Mohawk, while Habib remained the target man forward. More importantly, Barathi was given the licence to roam at the centre of the park, with a free role handed out to him, and boy did he grab it.

Barathi tormented the Getz players with his new found freedom and energy and KKZ were starting to attack furiously. But hey, KKZ will always be loyal to our second half curse, as we missed several open-glitch chances, as the 2 goal cushion led to over-confidence and selfish play. Habib became 'focused' on his goal tally, Jeyraj started to 'drift' from the centre back postiton to centre forward, and if not for Sriram's intelligent cover and important tackles, it would have been a very different story. The second half curse finally came true when the complacency set in, and Getz powered in a goal to break the advantage to half. (2-1 Getz*60th minute) KKZ suddenly started to become vulnerable, and further shuffles were made. A quite 'absent' Nayee moved into the right back position, the over-worked Sriram was put to the left midfield, with Mohawk pushed up to partner Habib. Vinnie covered his position by moving forward to the right flanks. It became a more even game after that and KKZ slowly started to find their rhythm.

10 minutes left and Barathi, latched onto a beautiful pass and struck a well placed shot but the keepr parried away. Bala was the first to react to nod in KKZ's third and his 3rd in 3 years (Remember Bala only scores 1 goal per year). KKZ went jubilant in their celebrations, but the drama was far from over. (3-1 Bala *80th minute)

On this day, Getz UTD had a friend in KKZ called Mr. Complacency. Mr. Complacency worked hand in hand with Getz to hand them a vital 2nd goal 5 minutes from time.
(3-2 Getz *85th minutes)

After the referee signalled for the last 3 minutes, Getz infamously pushed for their "LAST BURST" after their No.11, toffee Marouane FOULaini remained on the pitch after 2 yellow cards, screamed Getz into their push for their equalizer. It certainly had an effect when 2 minutes from time, 3 KKZ defenders botched their clearances and their forward blasted in from close range after Nayee, the 4th Kamikaze defender went AWOL. Getz were ecstatic at their dramatic equalizer and KKZ were in shambles. (3-3 Getz *88th min)At the restart, heated arguments were still going on in the KKZ box, and the last minute of play was started. Barathi realizing that time was not on his side, went on a mazy run. Desperate for the draw, once again, FOULaini hacked down leaving a very disgusted Barathi. The resulting freekick was crucial and Bala insisted on taking the free-kick even after mis-cuing his previous 3 freekicks. KKZ kept their faith in him, and he didn't dissapoint. Bala crashed his free-kick against the post , and who else but Nayee picked up the pieces to tap in the winning goal in the final seconds as Kamikaze recorded an official victory in their first game of the season. (4-3 Nayee*90+1 minute)Drama at the Canberra. The final whistle followed and Nayee was still celebrating and the other victorious 10 joined him after the valiant 11 had battled to a victory.

Credit must be given when it is due. 2009 finally saw Barathi take the first step to his stake to the No.7 jersey as he fitted and excelled in the role of a playmaker for Kamikaze. His Runs, passes, spirit and energy in the game was detrimental to the 3 points. His contributions earmarked him earning the special free role which KKZ do not normally hand out to a player. Unlucky not to get a goal. Nevertheless, excellent display. More to come, Barathi?

Friendly Game at Bendemeer Secondary

"World XI" 3 KKZ 5 (2-2)

Thanks to some managerial hiccups and miscommunication, several KKZ regulars were missing from this match. KKZ had to dig deep into its resources to name the squad against the international Utd in where players from almost all parts of the world made up the team. A very impressive Seshan wowed the opponents with his impact in the game. Habib opened the scoring, Seshan grabbed an hattrick and Ezekiel nailed the internationals' coffin. The KKZ regulars who were present were not in their top form, as Jeyraj battled heavily to pick himself up from his defensive error which led to the 2nd goal. An exhausted Nesh, who should have been rested, was risked, and although not having a bad game, gave away a penalty. (He didn't finish the game after he picked up a knock) It can be said that the rest of the regulars who were present were not having a good game either. One Exception, though, other than the 20 min- Super Vinnie, was Nayee who had an excellent game at the right back position, and after a very long time, Nayee started to have a positive impact in the team's victory. The returning players, namely Habib and Manjo, had an outstanding game as well.

It was a tough choice, and although Seshan grabbed an hat-trick, the KKZ editor had to pick the returning Manjo who pulled off top notch saves, including his famous ' Bishan Drop Save' and an one handed diving save (yes guys, Manjo dived!). Kudos to the legend!

Ok boys, We have seemed to have gotten hold of a good offer. A simple comfortable umbro jersey designed in true kamikaze colours, orange, white and black. A good offer of $12.90 (excl. printing charges) per piece, in various sizes from XXS-XXL.Please vote so that we can get a general consensus before we make a decision to grab or drop them.

White/Orange

This is the original jersey we were looking at after the polls heavily banked on the white and orange colour. It has its disadvantages though. As some critics pointed out, the jersey may have some risk of getting discoloured after numerous battles with mud and stuff. This hasn't been proved though. But hey this seems to be the popular colour choice so far. But then again that hasn't been proven as well.

Orange/Black

This seems attractive after this jersey ,as well, is tailored to the kamikaze colour. A bit of a 'fulham' styled jersey as the one above, this jersey may delight the likes of dutch fanatics such as Satish.

After beating KKK a week earlier, KKZ's schizophrenic form took another turn for the worse with an abject defeat at the hands of MCFC on Sunday. The majority of the damage seemed to be done in the first half as KKZ had no reply to the 3 soft goals they had conceded. They seemed to be on the backfoot for the opening 20 minutes when Nesh and Jeyraj had to be valiant against another one of those long ball Mungent attacks. However, their valiance proved fruitless after KKZ went down by two rather, soft goals. After the introduction of Hari and Bala, KKZ seemed to be a bit more attack minded, after they created clear chances only to squander them. The best chance of the half for KKZ was probably when Bala rattled the underside of the bar from an excellent freekick from outside the box. Barathi had 2 chances to bring KKZ back into the game but somehow it wasn't to be his or KKZ's day. The 3rd goal was just icing on the cake for MCFC as they became one of the first team after a very long time, to take a 3-nil lead over KKZ, at the break.

The second half was as frustrating as the first as KKZ were toothless in their finish. The recouperating Haresh was not at its best. Nayee once again did everything right except to apply the finish. Jeyraj, seems confused, after his numerous role switches has led/maintained his astray offside runs. After going another goal down, KKZ was determined to reduce the appalling 4 goal deficit. An array of corners and throw ins led to a penalty decision in where MCFC's 'Mee Pok' Richards handled in true John Terry's style. Captain Nesh applied some medication on KKZ's wounds as he stepped up to take the penalty that he earned. The skipper placed his penalty with power which cannoned off the bottom left post leaving keeper Cho Ee Har no choice. Shortly after, another fruitless KKZ attempt, the final whistle went.

As it was, the pilots of KKZ took a suicidal nosedive after the match ended on a humilating 4-1 loss at Sengkang Secondary.

Editor: It would be interesting to see the polls votes trend now. Whether Vinnie racks up the votes after another 'absent' performance, the absence of a keeper garners even more support or a quality finisher will be the main priority in the January Transfer Window.Hmmm....

The returning celebrity turned on the style after coming on in midfield, in where he burst through MCFC's midfielders several times, before sending in teasing crosses. He was KKZ's man of the match, and undoubtedly so, when he was the fulcrum and force in many of KKZ's attacks.

KKZ played their first friendly 9-a-side match at the Punggol Free Field against K3 after finishing the league.

The match ended on a 4-2 win in where we saw former captain Achu donning the KKZ colours after a 1 year sabbatical.
Also, Kim Keat Based Raja started in goal for KKZ.

Bala (KKK)

Goals: Gerard, Jeyraj(2), Nayee

M.O.M: Gerard

Gerard stole the show against the makeshift Kim Keatians after unleashing a halfway line shot from kickoff, establishing probably the fastest KKZ goal scored. He also proved to be the catalyst to almost all of KKZ attacks.
